Great book for young and old
This book was great as we studied the life of Beethoven. I have a fourth grader and kindergartener and they enjoyed hearing about his life.

Very engaging and still informative.
Our son loved this book. When we got to the end, he said "that's all?!?" It's not a chapter book but longer than a traditional picture book. Bright illustrations, plus art ftom the Beethoven's time period. Information about his music, as well as the time period and culture. Very engaging. Perfect for 2nd - 3rd grade.

Great for school and/or the music lover
We love these books and they are so kid friendly! We homeschool and use them for music lessons. They are so colorful, full of great information, fun facts, timelines, a small, colorful quiz for fun, and jokes that my daughter loves. We have purchased 4, so far, and will tackle Tchaikovsky next month (can't wait! My favorite composer).

The Life of Beethoven for Kids
I bought two copies of this book at a Scholastic Book Fair as a former elementary principal, one to keep and one to share with a school or student. The author and illustrator Mike Venezia, a graduate of the Art Institute of Chicago, has written a fun, easy-to-read book and makes Beethoven seem like a real person. Adults will learn something, too, about Beethoven's difficult father, his teachers, his siblings, his hero, the fact he never married, and of course his deafness. I love the colorful comic drawings with funny quips. I plan to purchase all the books in this series. Bravo Beethoven! Bravo, Venezia!

About the composer
It's a book about Beethoven. Excellent considering I ordered a book about Beethoven. I got exactly what I was after. I would have been disappointed if I had ordered a book about Beethoven and it was a poster of Haydn, or anything else that clearly wasn't a book about Beethoven.
