I gave this to my sister for her birthday and she started to flip through it immediately. She made a remedy for a sore throat the first night she had it. I think these cultural books are so interesting and make a nice reference book to keep around. Can’t wait to use it myself. I would buy it again.

Wanda E. Brunstetter’s Amish Friends Life Hacks has hundreds of helpful tips on cooking, cleaning, gardening, laundry, and so much more. This book is a compilation of life hacks (shortcuts, tips, and tricks) that will make life a tad easier. There are natural remedies, natural bleach, planting tips, natural food coloring, canning and preserving tips, baking tips, crafting tips, and pest deterrents (plus much, much more). I especially liked the section on cleaning alternatives. I am sensitive to smells (I have asthma, allergies, and fibromyalgia) and it is hard to find cleaning products without scents (too many have lavender). I enjoyed the miscellaneous tips at the end which included my favorite tip which was the secret to an amazing life. There is Amish wisdom sprinkled throughout the book. Amish Friends Life Hacks is a handy book to have around the home.

This helpful book is a collection of hundreds of tips for cooking, cleaning, gardening, health, and much more. Every house needs this book.Besides all of the useful life hacks, there is a lot of information on the Amish presented in this lovely book. Readers will learn about Amish and Mennonite communities, values, and lifestyle. Woven throughout the entire book are bits of wisdom. I really enjoyed reading those. A variety of beautiful pictures are sprinkled among the information. There is a listing of each person who submitted a hack and where they live.It was a nice surprise to see that the majority of information in this book was new to me. I was able to glean a lot from it. The book was well organized and easy to navigate. I could find certain subjects without issue.I highly recommend this pretty, helpful book. It would make a great addition to any home library and a perfect birthday, Christmas, or shower gift. I rate it five out of five stars. There are Vibrant pictures and scripture throughout.A real handy book to have. Not one to sit and read in one sitting. It has a nice index to find what you are looking for.

I actually borrowed this book from my local library first. I loved all of the great tips it contained in so many subjects. I decided to buy the book so i could always use it as a reference for the handy cooking, cleaning and gardening tips. Excellent purchase.

So many great things to learn and put into use!

I was hoping the book would have some really interesting and helpful "hacks" provided by the Amish who don't have the benefit of many of our modern solutions. Unfortunately, I was disappointed. Same hacks repeated, just by different contributors.

This is a great book, packed full of great recipes for every occassion. There are home remedies for ailments and illness, kitchen and cooking tips, ideas for preserving food, gardening tips, cleaning ideas, and many more. My favorite is the section on livestock and wildlife care tips. I especially like the recipes for feeding birds. This is an essential for any home.
