Intermittently intermittent - Look elsewhere if you need something reliable
These devices are so frustrating to use that I had to write a review. I have a robust thread network in my house with around 20 devices, using HomeKit architecture. Guess which plugs are problematic? There are only three options currently: the Eve Energy thread plugs, expensive but reliable, Belkin thread plugs, which will drop signal every now and then but eventually reconnect, and the Onvis thread plug, which are even worse than the Belkins at going offline. The Onvis plug connected straight away, but way too often lose the connection. Forget using them for automations because they only trigger maybe one in three times. What really makes this a one star product is that sometimes they turn themselves off for no reason! Even the Belkins don't do this. There is no reason to buy these to save money, because the frustration they will bring will make you want to destroy them anyway and you are back at square one. So disappointed in Onvis for releasing this clearly untested product.

A lot of low stars...
Ive had mine for about a year now and its been good to me; I guess your miles might vary though.

Does not remember state through power glitch
I don’t know if this is a bug in these units, or a bug in the Matter+Thread specification. Regardless, these plugs all come up set to “off” regardless of what state they were in when they were powered off. This makes them highly unsatisfactory for any sort of serious use. It only takes 1 bit to remember state — there really is no excuse for this behavior.

Works with Homekit but Surpringly not with Alexa or CloudIntelligence
What I like: It easily pairs with Homekit all the time after reset testing it many times. I like the fact that it communicates through THREAD and will not inundate my already inundated wifi. What I don't like. It says you can integrate it with Alexa and Google through an app called Cloud Intelligence. IT COULDN'T FIND the plugs.Update: Changed to 1 star. Always delayed response and sometimes NO RESPONSE indicated on Apple. What I don't like. It is not certified nor listed by UL nor ETL. Only CE (European Standard)

Must have Apple Echosytem to update!
I bought into the Matter over Thread hype and purchased these S4 Plugs. I use three 4th Gen Echo's as Border Routers and they connect to Alexa with surprising easy. I am then able to add them to my Hubitat and they work like a charm! The story goes south when they lose connection to Hubitat when it gets a firmware update. I emailed Onvis Support who was VERY responsive and told me a firmware update for the S4 was going to fix the issue. They were proactive and notified me when the update was available!!!! Since I am not an Apple owner, I have no way of updating the firmware, as of right now it is only supported via the iOS Onvis Home App. I borrowed an iPad from my daughter, but was not able to get it updated. It kept telling me I needed a Hub. I emailed Onvois Support, and they offered to upgrade the firmware for me if I sent the units in to them. I have to say that Onvis Support is top tier! I can't imagine any other company offering to do this for a $20 smart plug.I will update this with results of the new firmware.

Made my thread network unreliable
I really wanted to like these smart outlets. They use thread to reduce my wi-fi device count and we have many thread connected Eve blinds, so a thread mesh network would be great to support them. However, the many (8-10) Onvis outlets have made things worse. My automated blinds often don’t open/close. When I search for an unresponsive device it’s always an Onvis device. As soon as I unplug the Onvis device the blinds work again. Hoping a firmware update fixes it, but I wouldn’t add any more until then and as I am removing and replacing them with wi-fI devices my thread end points are improving in responsiveness.

Constantly problematic on Homekit
These plugs constantly revert back to default settings on honekit, losing your edited “light” vs “plug” settings. So Siri commands to “turn off the lights” won’t work when it randomly decides to reset your devices all to “plugs”

Randomly becomes unreachable via google home
The smart plug is incredibly unreliable. I have to unplug it and plug it back in every couple of weeks to get google home talking to it again. I have multiple other matter over thread devices and none of them are this bad. If there was a firmware update for it I wouldn't ever know because I don't have any Apple devices to use the Onvis app.
