Do what they are designed to do. Great for schools.
Most reviews for these products are based on free items with the risk of inherent bias. This review (and that for a similar, different volume product) is based on recent purchase of multiple items for a school who have had some access to Gilson products so I can compare directly. The pipettes arrive well packed with ISO certification for each serial numbered pipette - genuine or not I can't tell but it looks ok. All we purchased worked correctly straight out of the box.The pipette feels good in the hand, outwardly similar to a much more expensive brand, The finish is good but the unit is slightly heavier and the mechanism a little bit stiffer and slightly clunky in operation - basically a little less refined than a similar Gilson. In a commercial lab running hundreds of samples per day this would probably be an issue but for short runs it is fine.Standard Gilson tips fit reliably and the ejector is good. Tested with Gilson tips the volume looks ok, being consistent and, as far as I can judge, close to calibrated volume compared to a recently serviced Gilson.I cannot comment on longevity of o-rings etc yet but there is no rattling or looseness in the mechanism and the unit feels sturdy with no likelihood of falling apart soon. However, at this time I doubt these can be economically serviced and, given the price, I would have to consider them disposable units.Would I recommend this for a FE/HE type school lab? Certainly. Most schools cannot afford Gilson/Eppendorf grade tools for "dna", and "pcr" type work - this unit is a decent alternative which looks the part, feels robust enough to last a while in inexperienced hands and is affordable enough to purchase in numbers allowing an entire class of students to get hands-on rather than twiddling thumbs in groups of four. This is no Gilson so don't expect to treasure and lock it away at the end of each day for the next ten years but it does the job well and an entire pipette is much less than the cost of a service for a single Gilson ...

Accurate pipette, for now
This is a good micropipette for the price and its accurate. It feels comfortable in the hand and operates exactly as you would expect. To change the volume, you rotate the button to the desired volume displayed on the dial. This extends or retracts the button to change the volume, I would have preferred it if it only changed the amount you can depress the button to the first stop but perhaps that's because that's what I'm used to, there is no issue with the operation. A further press to thr second stop will purge the tip.The tip ejector works perfectly, feels a little stiff when trying actually eject a tip but perhaps I put the tips on a bit too firmly. You get a single pipette tip and a pipette holder that can be stuck to a surface with the 3M sticker. Different mounting option would be better but I don't plan to hang mine so it's not a problem for me. A few more than a single tip would be nice, you can buy additional tips which isn't a problem but a few more for starters would be good. Even if you aren't dealing with contamination, the tips lose their repellency and lose their accuracy if you continue using the same one so you will need to buy more. The biggest letdown for me is that you aren't able to re-calibrate this in the event that you need to. I would hope that you don't but it's good practice to check the accuracy. You would need to buy a new pipette all together which at least these are too expensive.Overall, I would recommend this for non-important tasks.

Accurate and can be calibrated manually with the included calibration spanner...
This micropipette comes in a plain white cardboard box and inside you’ll find the pipette, quality control certificate, calibration spanner, shelf stand, 1x tip, silicon grease, and an operating leaflet. These pipettes work by you pushing the plunger down and inserting the tip into the fluid and then releasing the plunger in which it will rise on its own and pull the correct amount of fluid into the tip. The pipette itself is lightweight and easy to hold. The plunger has a smooth action and is easy to press. The plunger has two stop positions. There is the normal position which is where you first feel resistance when you reach the bottom of the press. This one is used as your main stop position and will pull the correct amount of fluid into the tip when you release the plunger. The second position is passed the first position and is with the plunger pressed all the way down until it won’t go any further. This is useful to push out anything that is left over in the tip. The amount the pipette can pull can be set to anywhere between 2-10ml and is adjusted by rotating the collar around the plunger. This will change the counter on the side of the pipette, and this shows what your current setting is. The reading can go beyond the maximum 10.0ml but it is recommended you go no higher as this can interfere with the plunger’s operation. As you rotate the collar, you can physically see the plunger moving up or down to accommodate the setting. It does come calibrated ready to use but you can calibrate it yourself as it ages with the included key. You insert the teeth of the calibration spanner, into the notches under the plunger, I’ve included a pic, and you turn it to make your adjustment. Quick and easy to do. There one tip included in the box, and it must be used when using the pipette. Tips are easy to attach by simply pushing them on and to remove them, you push down on the blue switch which is on the side of the pipette. This moves the big blue end of the pipette downwards which in turn pushes the tip off the end. This is an accurate way to always get the same amount of fluid for whatever you need it for. The amount is easily selectable by rotating the collar with an easy-to-read counter to tell you the current setting. It is on the expensive side for what is, but it is well built and comes calibrated out of the box ready to use.

Eccellente
