Very easy to use and install. Bought for outside gate and looks really fancy

I would not consider this an easy install for people with a reasonable skill level and basic construction tools.Amazon notes this lock as a Frequently Returned Item but I could not find anything in the comments to suggest why. Here are my discoveries that may help you.First off this unit will not fit in a standard door lock/knob cut out, so if your door is pre-drilled or you're hoping to replace an existing set up, you will have some extra work to do. For this reason I almost sent it back but instead, decided to make a plug, glue it, sand it paint it and start from scratch.All dimensions are given in metric so if you're working with standard tools, bits, etc. you'll have to convert everything, not a big deal but its time.The latch mechanism is larger than a standard size latch which means this hole will need to be enlarged if you're going my route. If you're starting fresh then the directions call for the equivalent of a 1" hole 3-1/2" deep. In a 1-3/8" door there is little room for error side to side and the latch plate is still only 7/8" wide so it won't even cover the 1" hole. I used a 7/8" hole saw and shaved a little extra off top and bottom.The screws to tie it together need to be cut down to size depending on the width of the door. The chart to size them suggested a size that proved too short. They give you an extra one, I assume for this reason but make sure you only cut one and check to see if it works before cutting the other.As far as the lock itself, once you select digits for a code, you can enter them in any sequence. Seems a whole lot less secure but in my particular case if they wanted in that bad they could jump the fence.The stainless is magnetic so its not a very high quality stainless.Overall, its in, looks nice and it does what I want it to, to slightly less then my expectations. The install though, ugh.

I bought three of these locks for a beach house and in a couple of months two of the three locks have stopped working. Both have stopped working because a pin that holds the spring that brings the lock back to the "locked" position breaks and the spring stops working. I opened up both of the locks that failed and in both cases the same pin broke in the same position. There is no reason for an internal component to break, it seems to be just mediocre build quality. Would not buy them again!

I purchased this lock in September 23 and it has already quit working. Not able to open it with the combination, only from the inside. Disappointed because it wasn’t cheap.

This lock is easy to install and operate. I like that it doesn't require battery at all. Overall it looks good on the door too. So far I am happy with the product.
