Better than Kasa
These are similar to the old Kasa KL-130 bulb, but add several cool new features. For instance, there is now a "party mode" that can use your phone's microphone to make a light show with your bulbs, or the bulbs can just cycle between several colors on their own. They also updated the sunset and sunrise times to allow up to 5 hours before or after instead of only 59 minutes. You can set your lights to turn on or off up to 5 hours and 59 minutes before or after sunrise or sunset, so you have lot's of flexibility. The old KL-130 bulbs had an "away" mode, but they took it away when they made the switch to the Tapo app. The away mode is available from the main screen on these Tapo lights. When set to Away Mode, these lights will randomly turn on and off making it appear like you are home when you are away. The fade feature has also changed. The Kasa KL-130 can be set to fade up to 60 minutes. This Tapo light can only be set to fade up to 30 minutes. That being said, the 'fade' on the original light was stepped, so around every few seconds it would get brighter or dimmer and you would noticeably see it 'step'. The Tapo light does this much more smoothly. The pairing feature also seemed different to me although it's been a long time since I've set up the KL-130. I'm pretty sure those used Bluetooth for setup, and these use Wi-Fi instead, and that's where people are probably going to have the most trouble. During the pairing process, it will ask you to pair your phone with the light. If you have a phone like my Pixel 7, you will need to turn off your cellular network connection while doing this, or the phone won't pair to the light and setup will fail. They are also only 2.4Ghz, which can also cause people issues if they have newer phones. This is kind of a bad setup experience, but for me it was no big deal. That being said, I wouldn't buy these for someone else unless I was prepared to help them set them up.Overall, the light color and brightness is indistinguishable from the older KL-130 bulb to my eyes regardless of the color setting, so I'm not replacing all of my old bulbs just yet.

Customizable colors and brightness
I have these bulbs installed outside and set on routines via Alexa. I have yet to experience issues with connectivity or them turning on/off when they’re supposed to. I used to manually change all of my outdoor bulbs for certain holidays and now I’m able to do it via the TP app. No more changing bulbs! Only downside is that I have so many bulbs that I will no longer use. If I had purchased these first it would have saved lots of $$. They are easy to set up via their app, although I wish the app would allow you to type in the color code, that is a programming issue not hardware. The bulbs are priced well, they are as bright or as dim as you want them to be, and works like how you would expect light bulbs to work.

Solid, inexpensive, easy to use
Have about 6 of these in the house so far, ranging from lamps to pendant lighting. Reliability has been rock solid. I have these running in HomeKit via matter and have had no issues at all. Set up is as easy as any other HomeKit device. Colour reproduction is not the greatest for certain colours, such as purple, but honestly I mainly need it for warm/cool colour switching.

Tapo Wireless Switches: Convenient and Customizable, But With Room for Improvement
We have to use these for our smart switches, because we cannot install the wired switches at our place. I like how easy they are to connect to the smart home system through the Tapo app and Alexa. You can assign them to control single or multiple devices at one time, like a set of bulbs, or bulbs and a plug. You can even use them for other smart home functions thru the Alexa app. Each one comes with the mounting tape or screws, and also includes stickers to label what each button controls. They can also work as dimmers for brightness or color temperature. You have to use the Tapo Hub with these, instead of them having a direct connection into the wireless network. I see that as a good and bad, less network chatter, but have to rely on the connection between the button and hub to come through clearly. So far no issues with the connection, but I could see needing multiple hubs in a larger home, or if you have separate buildings. They can be easily knocked off the baseplate, it's just a magnet holding it on there, and if you bump it the wrong way they fall off. It would have been nice if they connected to the baseplate in a more sturdy fashion, perhaps clicking in with some small tabs.Another flaw is the dimmer on them, it takes 2-3 clicks to get them to come on the lowest setting, and it's inconsistent. When using the dimmer sometimes the temperature will randomly change for a brief moment too, not sure if that is because of the dimmer or the bulb, but I never have that issue when dimming them with the Alexa or Tapo app.Overall good product, just needs a little work to make this a 5 star product. I would rather use the wired switches, but if you are in a similar situation as I am, or if you want to have buttons to control various segments of your smart home, these are a great option!

The smart features are incredibly user-friendly, and setting them up was a breeze. They connect seamlessly with Alexa, so I can control them with simple voice commands, which is super convenient.
