Good piece of kit. Keeps the dirt off and it’s thick enough I can throw it over wild rose bushes and the thorns don’t get through.

Package is late , still waiting……..finally arrived so first off it’s really thin which isn’t a bad thing. It has slight padding at the knee and elbow area. It’s made of lightweight nylon type canvas. Other reviewers say it has a rubberized water proof underside. This one definitely does not. Just plain nylon canvas. I plan on using scotch guard for this very reason it will definitely keep you off the grass or dirt. You have to take into consideration it’s not a $100 + shooting mat it’s a $30 shooting mat so it’s better than expected for the cost. So what’s the difference between the two? A $100 shooting mat is made of either true denier canvas or a thicker stiff water proof canvas. I will update after I am actually able to use it out in the field and see how it holds up to rocks, dirt and whatever else is on the ground.

Pads for knees and elbows-there are pockets up front but the zippers open awayyyyy from the prone shooter. All good.Really really light and stowable…same color as the sand here so I’m not always dusting off like my black utility bags. I would buy it again.

This shooting mat is well-made. I really like the padding and the pockets are great. This mat is a great value for the price.

Decent mat for the price, but not nearly long enough. They should be made long enough to accomodate the full length of the shooter plus a prone shouldered rifle all the way out past the end of the muzzle. It's important to have the muzzle over the mat to keep the muzzle fire from kicking up dirty or catching dry grass on fire. But as is with this one and most others, you're going to wind up with at least your legs from the knees down in the dirt. I can't for the life of me understand why manufacturers of these kinds of mats make them so short. It doesn't make sense. Maybe they want us to buy two in order to put them together for a longer mat. (That's what I'm having to do.)I also wish that they wouldn't sew pockets and pouches onto these mats. I have no use for them, and to get rid of them you have to cut them off. Why not add some molle to the mat, instead so that users can put pouches whereever they want, if they choose to do so. Manufacturers could even take advantage of that and sell the pouches separately.
