Looking at the other reviews I can see that some people had the same experience while others had it working fine. This tell me one thing
Initial charge over 12hours, and yet this fail me every single time I needed it. Power only enough to turn lights in but not kick an engine, which is the whole point of it. Looking at the other reviews I can see that some people had the same experience while others had it working fine. This tell me one thing, poor quality control. I'm return mine asap

Low Life Battery
I purchased the Blackspur Engine Starter and Air Compressor last year. Have hardly used the unit, but already the lead acid battery has deteriorated to a point where it will not hold its charge. The unit was top-up-charged every 3 months as per instructions.Blackspur Customer Services tell me there are no spare batteries for this product. If you have this product, you will need to source a replacement battery from another supplier.I would advise any potential buyer not to purchase this product, but to look at other manufacture's engine starters, with better after-sales service.Ian Ward

wow ! brilliant!
I recently purchased the Blackspur engine start and after charging up the unit first, my hubby wired it up to the car and it started first time.We have had to use it several times since and the car has started every time. It's brill! It's so good I'm going to get one for my daughter who often breaks down and rings for our assistance to rescue her at the most awkward of times! Well done Blackspur!

Total rubbish
I bought this item from Amazon about a month ago and thought it was going to be really useful. Three days ago I went out to start the car which had been parked unused for about 3 weeks. While there was still some power in the car battery it wasn't quite enough to start the car, so I figured I was saved with the Blackspur. It only took seconds to hook up but it just didn't have enough juice to start the engine despite being freshly charged!! After about ten attempts I walked down to the road to a mechanic who came up with his own starter kit and it worked instantly...The mechanic told me that these budget priced starter kits are a complete waste of money and just don't have enough power to do the job. I once tried using the air compressor side and that was similarly disappointing. First of all it makes a terrible racket which is frankly embarrassing as all the neighbours start checking where all the noise is coming from. Although it does slowly pump up the tyres, I found the pressure readings to be pathetically inaccurate so I was forced to guess what the real pressure was like. Don't waste your money on this kit.

Leaves much to be desired
Not enough power to jump start a lawnmower. Compressor is feeble - when I opened it up to see what battery was needed for replacement I could not believe how miniscule the piston is and powered by a tiny cheapo electric motor. It took over 30 minutes running to inflate a tyre from flat, you have to stop every ten minutes to let the motor cool down and the battery recover ( it says this in the instruction book ). The jump leads are ridiculously short so it is difficult to connect to battery terminals, you have to balance the unit on top of the engine. The torch does not give as much light as you would expect for a unit meant to start engines. Built down to a price, and then sold for 10 times that, reckon its worth about £3.90. Now the units battery has failed I cannot find a replacement. On the positive side it looks the part and is a nice colour.

truely worthwhile investment.
i drive a classic mini, and as such frequently find myself in trouble with flat batteries, usually due to one of many poor alternators. i bought this from amazon and have used it well over a dozen times, as much as 4 times in one day and it always performed instantly.i would gladly pay far more for such a useful tool considering how many times it has got me out of hot water, including breaking down in the middle of a main road. simply hopped out, plugged it in and off i went. as quick as that!the other reviewers views on this tool are simply wrong, i can only say he must have not charged it the recommended amount before first using it. All batteries are 12 volts so there is no way it could not work on ANY car.
