A Glossy Book
This is a a very handsomely presented book. It is very typical of the type sold in museums and stately homes etc., Therefore it does not probe very deeply and is very expensive, so make sure that you buy it from Amazon's Marketplace. My copy was in perfect condition and less than half the published price. It is a very big hard back book. I envisaged that it would be nice holiday reading but it would have taken up almost all my baggage allowance !!It is well illustrated with fine photos and the text is quite informative. I got a bit fed up with the use of the frequent use of Indian words. All in all, I am glad I purchased it, but it was a bit too glossy and lacked real depth. A rating of 4 stars does justice to the book and reflects my enjoyment.

Maharaja: The Splendour of India's Royal Courts
I attended the magnificent exhibition in the V&A. The book is beautifully written and the pictures are stunning. As I go through the pages my mind wonders to the exhibition. The paintings, the royals, their transport, the western influence, their games, armory and cosmetics. The book will keep the memory alive.

Maharaja
Stunning photographs of jewelry and metalwork and miniature paintings. Text and historic photos of maharajas make this catalogue one of the best.
