can I use usb cord only instead of cigarette lighter to connect it to my car? I don’t have a cigarette lighter in my car.

Note that you need to use the USB cable included in the package and not your own, otherwise it may interfere with the app connection.

Why do other USB cables affect the functionality of the camera? (Common to all dash cam with Wi-Fi function)
The USB socket of the car can read data, once the camera is connected through the USB cable that can transfer data, the camera becomes a live camera (can't store video to SD card) or becomes a USB flash drive (can't record video), in this case, the camera establishes a data connection with the car, which will prevent the connection between the camera and the APP.
The original USB cable has no data transfer function, so you can avoid these problems.
