... he was waiting for the Penguin - - he enjoyed it before he passed from lung and bone cancer
I read this book to my Little Brother when he was waiting for the Penguin - - he enjoyed it before he passed from lung and bone cancer. I read it now and it brings me back to those moments with him. I've purchased other copies to share with friends in the same situation. It's a wonderful book and I highly recommend it.

If you liked "The Little Prince", you'll love the Edward Monkton collection.
All of the books in Giles Andreae's Edward Monkton collection leave me feeling good inside! They are semi-semi-children's books, with an interesting look at humanity. If you are a "nonbeliever" of one sort or another, this is a nice way of making death seem like a less frightening (though still very serious) idea for your children....and yourself. It reinforces a feeling of oneness with the universe. Plus, the poetry is light and airy.

Not a children's book
For people who love quirky, sublime books...this is fabulous. Both my 8 and 9 year old daughters think it's weird and don't get it. Most of my friends think it's weird but in a good way. The Penguin of Death is lovely and strange. Buy this and contemplate.
