Silverline 633752 High-Back Porters Sack Truck, Blue, 250 kg

Fantastic value but be warned - inadequate packaging
Dated 1st Nov 2011Please note I have had TWO of these Silverline sack trucks from Amazon, and both have now been returned as damaged owing to insufficient packaging. The first arrived in September, in truly awful condition, wrapped in just two layers of polythene sheeting, with clear signs of water damage to the card info sheet, and very rusty split pins/washers, a bent wheel guard, and numerous scrapes and scratches all over the frame's powder coating. The replacement was clearly kept dry, and much better packaged, with the upright section now surrounded by Amazon card boxes, but still with a few quite deep scratches to the powder coating, some clearly not caused in transit which implies a storage/warehousing issue. Oddly the powder coat was a noticeably darker shade of blue than the first truck. Since it was in fully operational condition, Amazon could only offer me a 15% rebate (£4.56) which barely covers the cost of a small can of primer to make it weather proof, so I refused their offer. Both trucks have now been returned to Amazon for a full refund, as always at zero cost to myself. Great service as usual, especially as the first truck was left unopened in our hallway for a couple of months. I have been advised that Amazon are investigating the packaging (I'm guessing mine wasn't the first complaint) and so they would not send me another truck at the moment. However, I note it's still for sale on Amazon, so I could just order one again now if I wanted!Notwithstanding the above, this sack truck is truly superb value for money, if you can get one to arrive undamaged, and I will be ordering a new one in a couple of months' time in the hope that Amazon have sorted out the warehousing/storage/packaging issues. It's incredibly sturdy, holds 250KG which is about as much as one man can pull along. Identical trucks are available for hire at festivals for £10 plus £20 deposit, which is where we got the original idea. Very similar trucks are also available from warehousing suppliers for over £100.Please note - it is very large so measure your car before purchase. It fits perfectly across the back seat of my Volvo V40. Mondeo would be fine, Focus probably too small. I've bought roof bars specifically to carry it, so that we can carry passengers, which is why it's important to me that it's fully powder coated, so that it doesn't get wet and then rust. Galvanised split pins and washers are very cheap to buy, so that's not much of a concern. But it makes you wonder why they're not provided in the first place. That said, Volvo do just that with their car bonnet cables....

poor packing
This may seem a little un fair as the actual product is of top quality and is really good but the P & P is well below my expectationsFirst one arrived and it had obviously been dragged across a concert floor as the top of the sack truck was damaged. Coating rubbed off in 3 places down ro bear metal.Second one arrived and no split pins or washers.... I needed to use it so fitted my own.Its packed in a flimsy plastic bag............Sad as the truck is absolutely brilliant.I have no way of contacting the company other than via amazon which is also sad. As I'm sure they could have easily sent out a couple of washers and split pins. My only option would have been to return it due to parts missing

Avoid Sack Truck With Pump Up Tyres
The trolley itself if your not using it for heavy loads is fine and as good as any other. If like me your using it to move furniture or heavy loads then avoid it.For heavy loads you need solid wheels. With this no matter how hard the tyres are pumped up with a heavy load they become soft and unusable .

Sturdy sack barrow
used to move a large number of large kerb stones and slabs. sturdy and makes a back breaking job much easier. Foot plate seems a little thin but takes the weight of kerb stones easily. Not sure how it would be with 250kgs but it good for what we need it for. For the price its very good

Decent Sack Truck at a fair price.
Considering it's modest price, I think this is a decent sack truck.People have commented about the wheels being able to move sideways on the axle as the split pins used to retain the wheels do not sit close enough to the washer that in turn abuts the wheel bearing. This is quite true, there is a few mm of sideways play but beyond a mild annoyance it doesn't affect the performance of the sack truck - the wheels still happily rotate !I used an M16 stainless steel 'Form B' washer on each axle in addition to the supplied washer and together they pack the small gap perfectly so the split pin now sits against the new washer and the wheels no longer have side play.A 'Form B' washer is thinner than a usual washer. I couldn't find M16 Form B washers on Amazon so I bought them from a popular online auction website.

Good sack truck but need to be checked for any damage.
Good p handle high sack truck. Perfect for me to get all my totes delivered to every shop.It is a good value and quick delivery to Ireland. But i have received 1st one damaged. Had to send it back. Replacement delivered fast to me thanks for that. Few scratches on replacment but i dont care it still works fine.I have ordered 2nd one for a friend. It works fine but a little damaged to a paint again and photo attached shows the wheel damage. Not sure how long it will last. I would be happy if i could get a spare wheel that i could replace instead of sending all back again. Thanks

Better than I expected!
To be honest, when paying so little for a sack truck, I wasn't expecting anything fantastic, but boy was I wrong!I've recently ruptured a disc in my spine, and we have a house move coming up, so to help with shifting boxes I thought I'd get myself one of these - and I am SO glad I did!It arrived quickly and very well packaged in a HUGE box (which now houses our 3 xmas trees whose boxes had fallen apart - added bonus!) and needed minimal assembly. It's bigger than I expected with a lovely big loading plate and seems very robustly constructed - I can see it being used an awful lot, especially in my new garden once we've moved.I'm not 100% sure it would shift 250kgs as the axle seems a bit thin, but it's coping easily with moving boxes of books and stuff about just fine. And the paint is chipped in a couple of areas but it's only cosmetic, and frankly, for the price, I really don't care about that. All in all I'm very impressed with the item itself and the service I've received.
