Westinghouse UL 489 AC Miniature Circuit Breaker, 5 Amp, Single Pole, C Curve, 10kA, 277V AC, 60V DC, Non-Polarized, UL Listed, DIN Rail Breaker with Thermal Magnetic Trip

Bought this as our main breaker in our van. Looks well built and functions very well, one is for our AC and another for Shore connection breaker. A little pricey compare for others but it’s worth it.Like from another review this is much taller coz of the plastic that divide on top and bottom where the wires go. I see that as added protection yet it did gave me hard time during install, tight fit on the box.

These seemingly well-made Westinghouse mini-breakers provide a compact solution to my need to safely interface a 3.5 kW emergency generator with four electrically-independent switch-plus-GFCI outlets in my basement. I particularly appreciate the dual-connection terminals on each end, which have allowed me to power two current monitors, as well as connect primary 15 amp loads, and still meet code. See the wiring photo.However, upon installing these Westinghouse mini-breakers for the first time on my breaker box’s din rail, I couldn’t help noticing that only three of these breakers will fit, as is apparent in a second photo. (The box manufacturer claims room for four mini-breakers.) The positioning of plastic posts in the box prevents these particular breakers from occupying the extremes of the din rail, as shown in the third photo. No issue for me, given that I only need two breakers. Moreover, I find no fault with Westinghouse in that regard. I fault the manufacturer of the somewhat-cramped LeMotech breaker box (which I’ve reviewed separately on Amazon), so I’ll not deduct a rating star for that reason.I have not tested — and probably cannot accurately test — the C-curve trip points of these UL-rated and CE-rated breakers. Therefore, I cannot comment on their primary functionality. However, if I discover functional problems during use I’ll likely revisit and down-rate this review. For now, however, I can’t justifiably deduct stars.

Item high-standard. Notably swift dispatch. The packaging was notably pretty. Would buy from again. Immensely pleased. A+

I tried this and then purchased some additional ones because of the small form factor to use as a sub panel for my grow tents and workshop. Easy to wire, good motion and action.

This is a good DIN rail mountable circuit breaker. I'd give it 4.5 stars instead of 5 only because it's a little longer than needed which made my ideal installation unusable (see picture). You would think with a title of "Miniature Circuit Breaker", it would be a little sorter. I ended up moving this breaker to a bigger box where it worked well.

This is a nice breaker. Fits nicely on a DIN rail, trips when overloaded. What more could you ask for?Some people noted that this was larger than they expected for a "mini" breaker. "Mini" breakers for DIN rails all have about the same dimensions as this. The "miniature" might be a bit of a misnomer depending on what you're expecting. I didn't see the dimensions spelled out clearly in the Amazon listing, so if you're wondering, these are are 17mm wide, and the total length is about 107mm. Total height with the breaker switch vertical (mid-trip) is about 80mm.I like how the terminals accept either bare wire or spade/fork connectors. You can see in the image I posted you can get a terminal directly under the screw. Note if you're using stranded wire, I would recommend the use of wire ferrules (and that recommendation isn't specific to this product).I also did check to see if this product was actually UL listed. I have found a lot of cheap imports proudly claim to be UL certified, but when you do a search in the UL database, you don't find them. Westinghouse, being a major player, I didn't think would lie about this. Indeed, this breaker is readily identifiable in the UL database (screenshot attached).

Westinghouse has been around forever and this circuit breaker is another high quality product from the company. I'm using this in my solar farm and it has not skipped a beat while in service. The only complaint I have is the fins on the top and bottom make it longer than other mini breakers.

I needed a circuit breaker for the application in the photos and this Westinghouse Miniature Circuit Breaker was perfect for the need. It had the DC voltage install printed on the side of the breaker and made for a quick install on the DIN rail. Keep in mind that it will work for AC voltage applications up to 277VAC and 60VDC.Overall, it was perfect for my DC voltage application! The DIN rail mount was an added plus that made it all the more perfect.
