Although the Samsung original has a very good rating, I personally think it is by far too expensive (the price increased incredibly at one point). I suspect anybody reading this may agree, as 'you' are looking for an alternative.This filter fitted into my Samsung American style Fridge/Freezer RSG5UURS without any problems.I am also pleased to report that the filter light has turned from Blue to Pink(ish) after a little over 5 months, and so I assume it will turn Red soon. This was one of my concerns, as I was unsure if the indicator would work with a compatible filter.UPDATE: As per the comment on this review, I have now come to the conclusion that the indicator has no relevance to the filter usage. This was easily tested by resetting the indicator once it had gone red, but leaving the filter in place.I have downgraded my review from 4 (which was based on price) to 2 (based on quality).As you know, the fridge/freezer dispenses chilled water. In my experience (and taste), if you let it warm up to room temperature, it doesn't taste very nice.I went to a friends house who uses the Wpro filter, and immediately tasted a difference ...enough for me to open the fridge to see which filter they were using. NOTE Whirlpool state that the filter is only expected to improve taste, and only reduces some contaminants (not remove).As another reviewer tried, I too asked for the test data (which is shown in the description as being available). My request was completely ignored, and so this calls into question (for me, at least) if the certification is genuine. This put the other reviewer off, who chose to purchase the original. I still think the original price is by far too high, but I trust Samsung when they say "Removes over 99% of potentially harmful contaminants"

This arrived quickly was easy to put in place. I have a big samsung american fridge freezer and this fitted far more easily than the other replacement that cost me £40. I have not had any leaking and am more than happy to recommend it. The only thing I feel I must mention is that the water does not taste as pure. With the old filter could really taste the difference from tap. With this filter not much difference for this reason alone I will go back to the old one.

UPDATE2: 04 Apr 2019 So happy with the last one I bought it again.UPDATE: 13 Mar 2018 This has performed without issue, happy with the product & updated rating to 4 stars.Original Post: 15 Dec 2017 (2 stars)Needed to replace original Samsung water filter; new filter - fully locked in position - caused water to flood the fridge compartment.Not a fan of arguing with a customer service bot: I put wellies and rain gear on and gave it a second go; this time it's holding but I'm 50/50 it's going in the bin - confidence is low that it'll behave for 6 months.Yes, Samsung's filters are expensive but right now I'd prefer to sleep easy at night.... will update if we need to make an insurance claim!

good low price alternative to the original Samsung ones. I was a little concerned when locking it in place that the sticker padlock line does not line up well with the fridge indicator so you have to feel for the locking click and double-check afterwards there are no leaks. I bought 2 more in reserve as these water filter prices seem to fluctuate a lot every time I need to buy one every 6 months. All in all happy with the quality and cost of it

Works fine and a fraction of the Samsung cost of £39.99.Four stars as the water come out slightly slower than it used to. However, I'll take that on the chin with it been just over a quarter of the cost of Samsung. Make sure you check the filter will fit your fridge. There is a code on the filter you can check against the description on amazon.

Reading the mixed reviews I was a bit apprehensive about buying this looky-likey rather than the branded filter, but I don't have a spare £30 lying around for the real thing. So, the looky-likey it was. It fitted exactly, and with no trouble, and I was able to turn off the filter reminder - the Samsung fridge freezer seems quite happy with it. It's been in a couple of months now, and to be perfectly frank, I'd forgotten it was a compatible until I loged into Amazon to do a review for a different product. If I haven't noticed - and I'm fussy about the taste of water - then it must be good.
