Great charger!
This charger works flawlessly! It's awesome they made it so you can change it from a plug in charger to a hardwired charger if you change your mind. I bought the plug in version and decided to hard wire it at the last minute. It's pretty easy to install yourself if you know what you're doing. I used the normal chargepoint app to initialize everything at the beginning. It comes with pretty detailed instructions for installation. Just remember you need a 50 amp service to run 40 amp charging(9.56kw), a 60 amp service to run 48 amp charging(11.5kw), and I believe a 70 amp service to run the full 50 amp charging(12kw) if your car allows it. My car can do the 11.5kw charging, but I decided to do the 9.56kw and hardwire because you can use romex (if it's inside only) to wire it. Once you get to 60 amp breakers, you need to run conduit all the way to the main breaker box and use thhn wire instead of romex. I hardwired because these chargers don't want you using a gfci breaker at the main panel because they have one built in. My area has code where if you're plugging it in a garage, you need a gfci breaker. If you hardwire it then you can use a regular breaker, which is ten times cheaper.

As good as a level 2 EVSE gets
UPDATE: I have charged our EV outdoors several times over the last few weeks when we've had temperatures at or near -30°C and can report that the ChargePoint cord remained surprisingly flexible and pliable and easy to wind up. The ChargePoint might be the EVSE with the very best cold weather cord available. I've seen online reviews that made the same claim, but I can attest to the ChargePoint cable remaining flexible at extremely cold temperatures. The app makes this ridiculously easy to activate as it guides you through the process step by step. The programability, smart features like demand response charging, the available extensive geeky charging tracking data, and Energy Star rating are features that few other EVSEs even offer. I like that its default version is plug in and that you can opt for either NEMA 14-50 or 6-50. However, it is the design and build quality of the ChargePoint Home Flex that impressed me most.ChargePoint takes great care in doing everything exceptionally well, from their instructional videos, to the packaging, to the list of included features, and the fit, finish, and the quality of the engineering and construction. As a professional who deals with electronic circuits, I appreciate the elegance and flow of how the charge cable connects to the unit. A seemingly simple thing that many people might not even notice, but it reveals how much attention to detail ChargePoint shows. The Home Flex does everything I want a level 2 EVSE to do, and it does those things very well, and it is designed to be efficient and ultimately save money by obtaining electricity at the lowest rates possible. It is not cheap, but here in Canada as of now there are at least three or four other smart chargers which are all more expensive and arguably do not have as many features. When you consider its construction quality, its features, and its ability to receive software updates via WiFi, on balance I think it is a good value for the money. Originally I was hesitant because of the purchase price, but I'm glad I decided to buy the ChargePoint. I've been impressed with the ChargePoint public chargers I've used and I'm even more impressed with the Home Flex. I really have no complaints at all about this charger.

Easy to use
Bought two of these for my two ev cars. Both work flawlessly. Setting it up using the app is easy. The app itself is easy to use. two tiny gripes...1. When you create your account you have to add credit c ard details, I don't like this. I only use charge point at home, so I see no reason for them to have that. 2. Pulling data must be done on a PC. No way for the chargepoint app to just send you usage in a CSV etc. I use that data for the business use of one of my vehicles and it would be nicer if I could just select dates and have it e-mail an excel doc. Like I said, Very small gripes.
