Instantly stops pulling.
I already had a Halti harness for my Cavalier King Charles Spaniel which I have had and used for about 6 years and decided to get a second one for my puppy which is a Cavalier/Poodle/Bichon cross. The harness (size small) works brilliantly with my fully grown CKCS (about 9.5kg and I have also used it on CKCS of 12kg) but with my puppy who is only 4.5kg it is a little lose so it isn't as effective, but still stops a lot of pulling. I will base this review on a correctly fitting Halti harness. The harness goes around dogs body and there is also a strap across the chest. It is fully adjustable. In the centre of the strap that goes across the chest there is a clip with a ring on the opposite end. The clip attaches to the dogs collar ring and then the lead attaches to the ring on end of the clip (not the collar ring). There is also a ring in the centre of the strap that goes around the dogs body (on the back). Ideally you need a double ended Halti lead which is sold separately. You can choose to either connect the lead only to the ring on the clip across the chest or to both the ring on the clip across the chest and on the strap across the body. Attaching to both rings can give you extra guiding control, but I personally attach to the ring on the chest only. You don't attach to just the ring on the body strap. When I got my first Halti harness I did struggle to put it on the first few times but once you've done it a few times and know how it fits it is very easy and quick to put on. I would recommend the first time you try don't put it on an excited dog that's waiting to go out. Practice putting it on when you've got back from your walk or practice on a toy dog! When I first saw the Halti harness I didn't believe that it would work, but it is amazing. The energy of the dog just seems to disappear into the harness. No more aching arm!. Although my CKCS no longer pulls I still use the Halti because I like the security of the harness being attached to the collar. I have a Halti double ended lead and I find it useful sometimes to attach the lead around my waist so I have a free hand, which you can do because the Halti double ended lead has several rings and a clip on each end so you can make it different lengths. Not sure if Halti would recommend this but I have small dogs and I've never had a problem but use your own common sense. My first harness is over 6 years old and it is still in excellent condition. They are good quality and last.I have tried the harness on many friends dogs who pull and they have all been amazed at how well and instantly it works.

WORKS ON THE WALK, NOT AS EASY TO FIT AND REMOVE AS SOME HARNESSES
Bought to make dog walking a little more controlled. I do notice a difference between using this and using a collar or alternative harness. Would have liked it to be a little more padded. There is small padding on the sides, there is no padding on the adjustable area that goes around the chest.I need to have the harness around the body of the dog quite small. This leaves a long end piece hanging, which I may cut off as it comes untucked and trails along the ground during walks. The clip to open and close then sits on the chest area behind the front legs, which it makes it slightly harder to clip and unclip. The item is sometimes put on inside out and then taken off to correct. The clip to clip it to the collar, gives some reassurance that if the harness should fail, the dog would not be immediately loose. The product is fairly thin and does not look strong but seems to be holding up well and I find worth using, with the improvement in walking. More fiddly to use than a collar alone but walking is more controlled and is usually worth the few extra minutes to fit and remove the harness. If I find a similar product for my small dog that opens and closes on the dogs back and with more padding I will consider changing, until then this does the job.

BEST HARNESS EVER!
I dont normally leave reviews but in this case i had too. I have 2 schnauzers which are inherently working dogs. I have just about bought every harness and lead combination you can think of from full harnesses to nose leaders, some have been very expensive and now sit in the tubs of assorted harnesses. So how did this harness change the way we walk? Well i feel firstly i have had 2 dog trainers and a dog whisperer to try to help me and again they revert to yanking me down the road. The nice thing about this harness is its thin and not full covering. What i discovered through my own research is when i put on a harness onto my boys they immediately want to pull. A bit like saying ya to a husky! because these lead from the front and are thinner than what i would call a normal harness. I have a small and medium as i have miniature and standard schnauzer they fit beautifully and i only use the front ring when i walk them. From yanking me down the road to walking nicely in a few days is some TALL ORDER but they/WE did it. I actually look forward to talking them out! and they have been both so happy! win win!
