Viking Books for Young Readers Matilda

If you've got a slightly dark sense of humor and a love for unadulterated Dahl's work you will love this book. These rhymes are hilarious versions of the fairy tales we all love, but those who are expecting rainbows and unicorns will be appalled. Example: in Cinderella's tale one of the ugly sisters is beheaded and that's just for starters.I however love this book and always have. Even as a child it made me laugh. I loved it. Got it again as a birthday treat to myself because my old copy is in terrible condition. But when I was a kid I read everything and anything so I am not a good example.If you're thinking about getting the Rhymes for a kid maybe check it out before you make a present of it. Some kids may be "traumatized" and some parents may be offended. Baffles me but that's people for you.However I can't recommend it enough to those who just love a good laugh. Especially if you can appreciate beautiful poetry too. The original illustrations typical of Dahl's work are another delight of this edition too.Wonderful Roal Dahl.

Llegó en perfectas condiciones y las historias con el giro espeluznante y gracioso que les da Roald Dahl son muy entretenidas. Se que siempre que compró algún texto de este autor es sinónimo de calidad. Lo adoro.

I simply love this book and its author!

Another gem from Dahl ! Dahl revisits six classic childrens' tales and gives them interesting wildly funny twists and shocking endings. All the stories are in rhyme format and they are true to the book's title : revolting :).I had a good laugh reading all except the red riding hood one. Wish it was longer and crazy like the others.I have given it a four star rating because of 2 reasons: One, this cannot be used for gifting purpose( I had plans to gift this) , it has certain objectionable words. Secondly, the size of the book is much bigger , in fact it looks like a children's book, not the regular novel size.Final verdict : A true Roald Dahl fan MUST have this on his bookshelf. The book ( which comes with a CD) is truly different and unlike other rhyme books. Give it a miss if Dahl hasn't amazed you yet.
