When I initially purchased this hanging basket, it cost $4.98 and was an add-on item. I was psyched to find a reportedly sturdy product for such a good price. I needed four, but when I went to purchase four, I was prevented from doing so due to a three-per-customer limit. I thought, "Okay, I'll order three now and get the fourth basket I need later." Well, by the time I was ready to order the fourth basket (not even two weeks later), I was horrified to see how high the price had skyrocketed. From $4.98 to over $14! Crazy!Luckily for me, when I went to Home Depot the other day I found the exact same basket for $4.98 + tax. Save yourself the cash and head over to your local Home Depot if you want this basket.That being said - I DO like the basket. It's sturdy and a good size for my Boston ferns. I wouldn't call it amazing, but it does the job. I will probably purchase more for my back porch in the future. Can't beat the price (well, if you're shopping at Home Depot)!

UPDATED Review:I just put a plant in the 2nd of the 3 baskets that I ordered. This time I was very careful with the chain as I planted my plant. It lifted fine but as I was trying to hang it from my tree AGAIN the chain came apart and dumped my new plant onto the ground below! The plant was slightly damaged and it was a waste of potting soil and I was frustrated. I quickly replanted it and the exact same thing happened TWICE as I was trying to lift it again. This time I removed the chain that came with it and replaced it with my own chain which will not come apart.The design of this chain is very poor. If the links turn in the wrong direction, which obviously happens a lot, they come apart. Who ever thought this was a good design was sorely mistaken.WRAP UP: The price of the baskets was very good but if you buy this item I HIGHLY recommend you do not use the included chain unless you want to go through what's happened to me. If the plants I had potted were very fragile this would have ruined them.I had a long wait for this product compared to other Amazon.com purchases, but they do show a 2 - 5 week shipping time frame and it arrived about mid-way between there. I got them (I ordered 3) today and was excited to plant my first one. I carefully planted it but when I went to lift it by the hook one segment of the chain unhooked spilling half the contents all over the place. NOT HAPPY! Now my carefully planted basket is a hap hazard mess. The chain did connect back together but I have serious trust issues for long term. It seems a little flimsy for holding up a basket this large filled with soil. I guess time will tell, but I am tempted to make a run to Home Depot for some much heavier chain, just to be sure it holds.

I purchased this hanging basket because it was inexpensive and I was looking for something with a minimalist design. For some reason, most plant baskets seem to be designed in an overly ornate style. Anyway, the basket itself is functional and durable, and it is certainly a good value for the price. However, I am very new to this plant-growing thing, and I did not realize that the coconut liner needs to be replaced every so often. If you need to repot the plant, and if the roots have grown into the liner, it will not be possible to salvage the liner if you are planning on potting a new plant. The thing is, if you purchase the liners on Amazon, they are more expensive than the basket! I suppose I could buy a whole new basket because it comes with the liner, but that seems wasteful. I believe the liners are less expensive in some brick-and-mortar stores, but that would require actually leaving the house to shop. Besides this minor inconvenience that I did not realize when I purchased the basket due to my inexperience, the basket is great.

These were being discontinued and sold for $5 each. I bought three, even though I only needed one. At that price, they are the same cost as the replacement liner! The one we have hanging is doing really well. Do note that it doesn't have a plastic liner, so if you over water, it will seep through the natural fiber. We don't have anything under it and don't mind if the deck gets a little wet if we are overzealous. We planted catnip in ours and it has plenty of room to grow. The catnip grows tall and it has vertical and horizontal room. This would be cute for something that climbed, like vines or trailing flowers.

My strawberries and ivy are growing fairly well in this kind of planter. Note that it drains extremely well, perhaps a little too well, and plants need a daily soaking. I would recommend only planting varieties that like to dry out between waterings. Also, after a few months I'm seeing a tiny bit of rust where one of the chains attaches to the bowl structure, but that is isolated to one chain on one of four planters I purchased. I still like it overall.

Really disappointed. The only reason why I bought this was because the description says it comes with the biodegradable coco liner and mine did not. Even the tag on the item says it should! Returning. I bought two and they shipped separately so hopefully the second one will arrive with the liner, otherwise I am already stressed out And anxious about having to pack it back up and risk my health to ship it back.

Terrific product. Not sticky like others have reported with coco liners. Holds in water, looks nice, and chain is long enough though an S-hook helps.
