Compact
My previous sound machine offered me categories to pick from. On this one, I have to keep clicking to find what I want. But the selection is very good, quite varied, and it's small, in case you need to take it on the road. It arrived promptly, and it was cheaper than my previous machine.

Inexpensive but you give up a lot
TL/DR: This is a really cheap white noise machine. It's possible that it is going to do the job for you, but be sure to check out the details so you aren't disappointed by its shortcomings.Pros:o Priceo Three different timerso Remembers settings through power cycleso Very fine control of volumeCons:o Sound quality not greato Navigating sounds quite painfulo No batteryo No nightlightThis sound machine is presently listed at under $20, and although prices can change, I expect it's going to always be one of the lowest priced machines you can buy. You'll have no trouble finding white noise machines that are three times the price of this one.So we have to cut some corners to get the price down that low. A lot of machines include a battery so they can run without being plugged in - that is left off this machine. Personally I think that's fine, I am always going to have my machine plugged in on my nightstand, so no big deal.Second, a lot of machines have a night light, which is often really nice for a kid's room. No light here, which helps keep the price down. Again, if this is a feature you don't care about, great, it knocks a few bucks off the price.I feel like there are a couple of places where the lower price ended up cutting corners that I just can't deal with.First, the sound fidelity. It seems like the one place that bad sound really shows up is in the high frequency components. If you listen to the piano tunes, for example, the high end is really damped down, so it sounds like you're listening to the piano stuffed in a cardboard box. This is less of a problem with the white noise sounds and more of a problem with piano, rain, and some others.Second, cutting the number of buttons down to the minimum reduces cost. But it makes navigating the library of sounds very painful. Most machines group the sounds into categories, and at a minimum they let you select a category with a single button press. IMO the ideal UI for a white noise machine will ask you for no more than maybe six button presses to find a sound. Not so here, there are 30 sounds and you can only move forward and backwards through the library. Since it's not easy to tell where you are in the sound library, it means you can literally have to press the button 30 times to find the sound you like.It might be that the shortcomings are ones that you can live with, in which case this machine is a great value, and you should go for it. Just be sure to buy it with your eyes wide open.--------I'm honored to be included in the Amazon Vine program, and I work really hard to make these reviews and videos helpful. I put in a lot of effort to try to help you learn the most important facts about the product. Good luck with your decision, and if you do decide to buy the product, I hope the things you find in this review make it easier to use.

Oh my goodness! This is the best!
Sooooo many different sounds to choose from!I've picked up quite a few sound machines. Most have looked more modern and child-friendly. This one is all grown up and isn't going to draw attention from the rest of your decor. There's no nightlight or other added things. It's a sound machine and an outstanding one, at that. This is the one I'll be using!I love the new age meditation music. There is a train sound and you hear the train horn at first but after that it's a track sound. It has all sorts of sound options and I'm sure there's something for everyone. The sound quality is exceptional. There are a couple that sound a little distorted/airy/tinny at higher volumes but most stay crisp. The piano options may seem a little distorted to some but they actually sound like when you're in a room with a grand piano...there's a sort of vibration on the strings and instrument that you hear. That crisp! It does need to be plugged in. It comes with a USB C cord and the USB adapter for an outlet so you have more power options. It's substantial feeling for its size. It's plastic and has metal speaker mesh on three sides. It's small enough to pack for traveling. Just don't forget it in your hotel room or you'll miss it!The buttons are easy to use. None of the nonsense where you have to long press and short press buttons to do different things. There's a power toggle for on/off. A button to toggle the timer through options. Volume up and volume down buttons. Lastly, buttons to go back and forth through the sounds. It remembers the last sound and volume you had when you turn it back on, even if you unplugged it.If you're looking for a straight up sound machine with high quality sounds, this is my pick!I hope this helps!
