I've never had an electronic tuner, just used piano and my ear. This is super easy to use, easy to read (big, bright display), and the face is hinged so you can tip it to the angle you need for visibility. Also, it has five different settings for different instruments (violin, guitar, bass, ukelele, etc.) which makes it very versatile. Seems sturdy enough to last, and it was priced right (cheap/reasonable).

Bright, easier to read, larger display than several I've tried. Decent accuracy; I think it's effective (I have a pretty good ear but like to use a tuner as I can get my guitars in tune faster). Strong clip with a good spring but made so I can get enough leverage on it; the finger grips are concave so the tuner is easy to grasp by them, and that makes it easier to open the clip without my fingers slipping off and the tuner flinging into the air. The rubber pads on the clip's grippers are substantially formed and help keep the tuner in place even on a smooth surface. Sturdy swivel, and a not too difficult to see switch on the front of the device (don't have to feel around on the back or use switches that are recessed, which makes it less awkward to depress). If you still have a hard time seeing the switch, put a little colored tape on it or paint that's safe for plastic surfaces; it's raised and big enough so it's easy to feel, and the action isn't sloppy, it's tight. You won't have to worry much about activating the tuner or changing the setting by accident. The battery is a good quality, large watch type and is easy to install. The battery tray is easy to slide out but is secure when it's fully slid back into the tuner body. If it isn't picking up the sound of the strings, you may not be striking the strings hard enough; give it more vibration to detect - but so far this has proven to be sensitive and I have guitars with thick headstocks. There are instructions that come with the tuner, and if the print is too small for you, scan them or print them so you can make it easier to read for yourself. I've purchased two of these and will buy more when I need them, I think they're well constructed (don't feel flimsy or delicate) and a good value :)

The only reason why I'm giving this product a 4-star rating is because the first one I received was not working and I had to return it. Outstanding service from Amazon for replacement unit: I received it on the following day from reporting the original unit defective, which means, it was shipped in less than 24 hours. Very easy return process, too. Now to the one that I have and does work.For some reason, I have always struggled to tune my acoustic guitar. I always had to rely on someone else to tune it for me. This tuner makes it a breeze. This is an example of when technology actually helps. It's very accurate. I don't think I have ever had my guitar tuned so fast and sounding so perfectly tuned so quickly. Yes, I may be horrible at tuning my own guitar, but I can definitely tell when a guitar is not tuned. So this is a lifesaver for me. 5 start for accuracy. It is definitely easy to read. 5 stars for this, as well. The display changes from blue to green when tuned and the gauge moves telling you in which direction is off. Once tuned, it's vertical and green. Now, 4 stars for easy to use, at least for me. Maybe it's just me. (Most definitely, but putting it out there, in just case there are other people like me.) For whatever reason, my display is always facing opposite from me after I have clipped the tuner. It's an easy fix as you just turn it around. But who knows why I always end up with it facing the other way so I cannot see the display until I turn it around. And talking about the clip, that's another thing. I wish the clip would open a bit more than what it actually does. It would be easier, as well as faster for me to clip it on. The other reason why I give it a 4 star for ease of use is because, unless you're paying close attention, you could end up setting it up for the wrong instrument. You have to press this tiny button right under the display and do so again until you reach the corresponding setting for the instrument you're trying to tune. The screen displays a very tiny letter for the instrument near the lower-right corner of the screen (G for guitar, V for violin, Etc.) It may be hard to read for some people. The font could definitely be a tad bigger than what it is. Nevertheless, I love it so far. I would actually give it 4.5 stars if I could. And I will definitely be buying another unit if anything ever happens to this one.Oh, one last thing. The cap for the battery compartment is a bit tricky for sliding back in. But how many times are you really going to be changing your battery? So it's something I can definitely live with, but it would be nice that they improve it for future models.Inexpensive and gets the job done. Good buy.
