Lovely Gauß narrative
Tent takes the biographical record of Gauß’s life and adds a narrative structure to enliven the material. Gauß’s professional accomplishments are nicely fit into this structure and are covered in a way that is satisfying without being too technical. Important aspects of Gauß’s character also come through: profound curiosity, intense work ethic, and consistent forthrightness. In Tent’s portrait, Gauß’s abiding sense of purpose in his research steels him against skeptics, political turbulence, and personal tragedy as he rises from the base to the pinnacle of intellectual life in Europe during the late 18th to mid-19th century. This biography can be enjoyed by adults, students in high school, and possibly advanced students in middle school.

Perfect little book about Gauss
Nice quick read about ‘The Prince’. Written at roughly the seventh grade level. No complex mathematics, just general descriptions of his theories. Absent was the Gaussian distribution….or did I miss it? What a man was Carl Gauss! I hope to meet him in heaven. One of the smartest men in human history.
