Out of This World Modeling

Lots of good info in this guide. A little pricy but an enjoyable read. Especially good if you are interested in building any of the subjects. I am building or want to build at least 4 of the models reviewed. There are many good suggestions that you can apply to other kits.

Years ago I purchased tons of these types of guides for inspiration on how to build, upgrade or enhance my models. In the age of the internet you can get more information from YouTube or a modeler's blog than this book.

Great book for any sci-fi modeler.

Great resource for modeling

Upon late arrival in a massively oversize card envelope, I found one corner of the book creased all the way through the pages.Maybe it occurred in transit, who knows? Had this been purchased as a present for someone else it would not have been acceptableand I would have returned the book in the badly battered envelope it arrived in.The saving grace of the book is that it's a subject I'm very fond of, namely sci-fi models.The author, however, goes to a lot of trouble to painstakingly fit LED's and masses of fibre-optic filaments to some of his models then does not showany photos of his finished models actually lit up, which is kinda weird.The book covers a decent range of model subjects but all of the (16 I believe) separate projects are a little short on info and could have filled a much larger book had the author gone into more detail for each model. A case of quantity over quality by the looks of it.These types of books are few and far between for my liking, but there's always YouTube to get more detailed instruction for your particular models I suppose.In summary: A half decent book but should be cheaper as it's quite an expensive book for what it contains, although I bought mine cheaper from a marketplace seller. One star off for not enough details and no photos of lighted models, one star off for creased book and/or careless handling/ packaging.Better to wait a while and buy a used copy if you can.

There's not many books focusing on the wonderful world of movie model making, this one is one of the best. Great photos and insightful stories on a great career.

Another awesome book from Aaron Skinner this time around focused on Science Fiction models, filled with great pointers and illustrations.
