Golly It Tastes Yummy
It is a solid bowl of goodness lots of lentils in a delish sauce - not a curry but more like a tomato chilli base. Staggeringly good as a super fast snack,or you could beef it up with some cooked spuds or beans. Depends what you feel like doing.

A convenient winter warmer
If you don't want to spend much time coking then these are for you. Pop them in the microwave for 3 minutes and they come out piping hot. You can eat as they are quite filling in their own right or just add to another staple like rice or potatoes. They are quite spicy, so not for those who do not like things hot.

The Duncurins have been trying out these super sachets of spicy lentil stew from Ben’s. Of course Ben’s is part of the massive Mars group and is perhaps best known for their rice. Duncurin is old enough to remember as a lad the advent of Vesta ready meals which were of dubious delight and of course in those days nobody had a microwave and such things would have to be cooked in a pan or boiled – depending on the recipe of course. This spicy lentil stew is a world away from such things and we had ours with rice and with peas. One could also follow the suggestions on the packet and try it with cucumber, tomatoes and avocado and would have thought cooked tomatoes, mushrooms, courgettes, aubergine and sweet corn would also be perfect.Duncurin really liked the taste and as both girls were also home this weekend they each asked me if they could each pinch a sachet and were delighted as they both went home at the end of the weekend – a nice sample of 6 sachets was received. The recipe is made to a vegan standard but the label declares that milk products are available in the same factory and thus those with milk allergies have to be careful and for this reason the sachet is not labelled as suitable for vegans but to my mind this is certainly vegetarian. The Duncurins, in common with many folk, are not vegan or vegetarian but we like to have at least two meals each week that are and this lentil stew fits nicely with that aim.The sachet is microwaved in about 90 seconds and comes piping hot. The other point of note is that it is low in fat, saturates, sugars and also not bad for salt – being in the amber zone. Moreover, there are no artificial colours, flavours or preservatives. All in all of course it comes down to personal choice. I loved it and am waiting for feedback from our girls. My wife also enjoyed it but is firmly of the view that one should cook with fresh ingredients and thus as regards star rating, have compromised on 4 stars. Please find a quick pic attached and many thanks. - sorry my pic has disappeared into the ether and the air drop from my iPad keeps crashing my review - ho hum
