Detailed, unbiased and very well researched
I really appreciate the clear, detailed and soundly researched manner in which this book was compiled. A controversial topic which needed to be pieced together in a scientific and uncoloured way in order to have any credibility. It was expansive and I found it didn't lead you down any particular pathway you didn't want to journey on.I would recommend this book to curious seekers and skeptics alike. Each can draw their own conclusions. I personally feel this covers just one strand of research into consciousness that, as with numerous others, is pointing in a similar direction. The rapidly mounting body of research now is very compelling and the materialists' arguments are becoming increasingly tenuous.Well done Roy Stemman on a great book; the most complete on this subject I have read.

... around the world and as such it is a good book on the subject to keep around
This is a thoroughly documented review of case histories of reincarnation experiences from around the world and as such it is a good book on the subject to keep around. Have to say, though, it is a bit boring do to the research nature of the presentation. It also does not explore the soul state between lives or give any detail of hypnosis techniques where those were involved. If you are new to the subject you may find the books by Dick Sutphen (such as You Were Born Again to be Together) or other works such as Many Lives, Many Masters or Many Wonderful Things of more interest. After those, I've really enjoyed books that deal with the between-life state where our spirits receive comfort and help to explore the purpose of our earth experience and our soul evolution; check out the books by Dr. Michael Newton.

Everything you wanted to know about the idea of reincarnation
This Kindle ebook is an excellent introduction to the idea of reincarnation in all its manifestations, both today and in the past. It covers everything from the rather wacko aspects, through its effect on various religions, to past-life regression and the people engaged in serious research. The whole subject is fascinating, but much of it tends to be tinged with what sound like pretty far-fetched ideas. The book leans heavily on the work of Dr Ian Stevenson, late of Virginia University, and some of his co-researchers. And so it should, for if you are looking for solid ground upon which to set your mental feet, it is here that you will find it.Although many interesting experiences have occurred through hypnotic regression, it is while reading about the research into children's claimed 'memories' of their past lives that we find ourselves encountering a degree of authority missing from some of the other discussions. For me this is where the meat of the book is to be found. But whether you are a skeptic or are actually inclined to believe in the whole concept of reincarnation, there is much in this ebook to engross you and get you thinking. And if you would like to find out more about the subject after that, you can't do better than read some of Dr Ian Stevenson's books, as well as those of his colleagues.

Didn't Hold My Interest
Went through this book faster than I thought I would. Famous cases are here, and I had read about the "explanation" behind the Bridey Murphy case, but did not know the person who originally published the criticism didn't have his facts straight either. There is a somewhat interesting list of celebs who believe they were/are reincarnated. I did not know Obama thinks he's reincarnated from a Civil War era person (yawn) and though a few celebs believe otherwise, it's amazing how so many spoiled superstars don't believe they were ordinary folk in a past life. It is always a king, emperor, princess, another big-name. I am on the fence regarding the subject, I don't deny it but have no proof. This book didn't do much to convince me. More like a reincarnation encyclopedia or collection of other sources.

Interesting Read
This is the first book I have read on reincarnation. It was fascinating to read about the various phenomena reported around the world. I expected to get a book full of New Age dogma with some interesting stories about reincarnation in-between. But I was happy that the author presented the subject matter in an objective and even somewhat skeptical manner. The last chapter "Who Are We?" is especially memorable. I look forward to following Stemman's research on his blog [...]

Covers a lot of territory on reincarnation
This book took me a while to get into but around 17% of the book I found it very interesting. It took a different avenue after that and it became a good read. I now understand fully why we are not meant to recall past lives as this point was so profound that for the first time I realised why we need to just live this life. But it was interesting reading about other people and who they were in another time especially the famous. I do recommend this book even though it took me a little while to actually get my teeth into it but you may glide over what my brain didn't in the beginning. Yes I did like and enjoy this book.

Great read with objective research
Great reading mainly, in my opinion because the research was done very objectively.Definitely the first book that should be read by anyone curious about reincarnation.

Unbiased look at reincarnation
No matter how good the author is, books about controversial subjects like reincarnation always seem to be a little biased. Not this one. Roy Stenman takes a neutral look at the phenomenon around the world and lets the reader make up his own mind.
