One of the best graphic novel series ever published, a standout example of the art form.
This book, along with Volume 1 are two of the best examples of the Graphic Novel as a method for narrative storytelling in the last ten years. This sits on my shelf alongside books like "Maus", "The Dark Knight Returns", "The Watchmen", "American Splendor", "Love and Rockets", and the "Acme Novelty Library". If you're even a passing fan of Hip Hop, or Hip Hop history and culture, this book is a must-have.

Relive the old great comic book era.
Wow! Ed has come along ways from his early work with Harvey Pekar. I didn't know much about Hip Hop, but now know some of the main players, his drawing with the old style paper and colors makes it seem like you go back in time. I have a feeling we'll be hearing a lot more of Ed Piskor in the future

I enjoy them for their great
You know, I have zero affinity with hip hop but Piskor's books make me curious. I enjoy them for their great, obsessively detailed historiography of what is a milestone in musical development, and for their quiet sense of humor. Plus I giggle every time I see Russell Simmons.

Slightly disappointed. Lots of damage to the cover also
Was expecting the cover to show Afrika Bambaataa holding a staff as pictures but received one of him levitating the planet. Slightly disappointed. Lots of damage to the cover also.

If you love old school Hip Hop this is for you!
Love this and the first one. I thought I knew my stuff but Ed has done very deep research and I'd imagine some of the insights are going into a book for the first time. Clever, funny, great art. Reminded me of how much I love hip hop and inspired me to pull out loads of the earliest records. Keep it up Ed- can't wait for the next volume!

Fantastic graphics, which brought a lot of characters I was not familiar with to life, and represented those I did know accurately. SUPERB. Thoroughly recommended.
