Nice SBC, No Wireless
This Orange Pi is reliable and great for wired networks. If you want to hook up to wireless networks or Bluetooth accessories, you'll need a USB dongle. The price and availability is much better than raspberry pi.The 8GB of EMMC memory makes it possible to run this device without a sdcard, with network storage providing network boot environments. I haven't set that up, but it's a great solution for environments where a collection of devices are used as simple sensors.

Decent hardware, but problem in available OS image
I really want to like this board. The specs look good at a good price. Document is decent and seems to be one of the supported. However, there are limited number of OS images available (not that much an issue) and there are some serious problems with these images.Downloaded the official OrangePi Debian from their website, and burned that to eMMC on board. The first thing strange I noticed is that apt update runs really slow. Changed to a closer Debian mirror, still not much better. Then I noticed that all the file downloads are all extremely slow. Downloaded speed test and it runs extremely slow too. I tried the following to narrow down the problem but went nowhere.* iperf speed to another local server is very good;* speedtest speed is extremely poor (download at only 1Mbps);* Tried to make sure network proxy is not set;* Tried to make sure DNS name server is using my local router;* Tried to measure disk writing speed, and it is decent at 40MB/s;* Tried to send a file through SCP to another local server, speed is decent;* Tried to get a file through SCP from another local server, speed is back to 100KB/s;* Tried to adjust the CPU governer to performance mode, no difference;* Tried different power supply and measured current draw to be a few 100mAs.There seems to be something fundamentally wrong with the OrangePi Debian image. It appears to me to be a software only issue. I have not tried the other images (Ubuntu, etc), but I have no time to help them debugging the issue. The default config should work out of box for such simple issues. I have spent one day on it already. I am returning this back to Amazon.

Does what you want if you know what you are doing.
you must understand that this is not an x86 cpu its arm64 based. it will run select arm64 based linux systems. use the orange web page to find which ones. i use this as a file server and print server over network and run a plex media server on it as well. i have 8 usb devices connected via daisy chained usb hubs. hdd will need external power in that setup.

Problem is with reviewers, not boards...
I've got over 20 of these working 24/7 for over a year, as thin clients. Besides some issues with cheap power supplies, I've had no issues with the boards. The OS available from the manufacturer is not the best, but these boards have official Armbian support, that's the OS to get if you want stability.

Died after only few tests
I bought this item on November 2022, I haven't really used it, I only did few tests of installing some OSs such as Ubuntu, armbian etc... and one day I plugged in and no power, dead! BTW I own few raspberry-Pis, I have been using them for years with no failures whatsoever! Not sure if it has a warranty or not.
