Easy to use great for all children
Loved this construction set with the gears we already had the linking cubes so could extend the set straight away. My 6yr tended to make his own design and sets however my 8year old loved looking at the instructions and making different designs. It was great to have a set that suited both

Well made; a 4-year-old will require help with many of the projects.
I got this set for my five-year-old grandson. He likes playing with it but doesn’t have the patience or the ability to try the more difficult projects that are in the manual. He really enjoys just playing with it… not necessarily following the instructions in the included project book. He just lets his imagination take the lead. The project book includes instructions for 13 different models, increasing in difficulty. It’s nice that there are some simple models to build, and also nice that some models are more challenging… allowing a child to “grow into” the more difficult models. What has worked out well is that our grandson has gotten help from his two older sisters (2nd and 3rd grade). So, while the toy is still new to them, it’s good to see the kids playing together and helping out.As indicated on the product page, there are small parts. So do be careful if there are small children in the family.Overall, I would rate this as four stars and would recommend this to a friend.I hope you find this information helpful.

Very creative
The product from Edxeducation is called the My Gears Junior Set. It has 117 pieces, so use my suggestion and have a good zip close bag or a covered box of some kind ready to store these. There are instructions for 13 activities with the gears and other items for building a variety of rotating, moving models. This is suitable for boys and girls ages 4-8 or older, but the younger ones, or maybe the first time these are used, there should be adult supervision to show them how to make things. Without adult supervision to start with, young children will get frustrated because they won't be able to put things together, and they will quit. But if you just give a little bit of help showing them how things connect and work, then they will be able to do it on their own. The older kids, ages 6-9 will be able to pretty much follow the directions to make things. Overall, this is a great learning toy that stimulates engineering skills and creative thinking.

Great for different age groups
I gave this item to a 4 year old but quickly saw other kids that were older take an interest. With all the suggestions and ideas the company provides, this toy can teach and engage kids of all ages. This appears to be a quality toy and despite it not being a "brand name", it holds up to hours of play.

Good education building set
This building set is combine the idea with number blocks, legos, gears and more. There are 117 pieces, and came with a instruction book, it guides you for building different models. My son is 5 years old, he likes to read through the instruction book and crate his own design. He build all kinds of wheels cars, tractors, trucks and more. This is a good activity set and develop kids engineering creations. It is also good for develop concentration, patience and imagination. It came with 12 different shapes with different colors. The edges and surface are smooth, there are big size and small size pieces. It may not safe for kids under 3 years.Overall, this is a great building set for kids love to imagine and engineering building whatever they want to build. Recommend.

Loads of Fun
These gears are fun for any age child. Children can create the designs in the enclosed booklet but they can also branch out and create their own ideas. A downside is they do not easily come apart. It takes a bit of muscle, but even the 5-year-old was able to do it.

Love it!!
Fun with gears... does life get any better than that? Forget about giving this to a kid. I have always enjoyed geared mechanisms, but I doubt I'll be able to keep this all to myself as much as I'd like to. It's so much better to pass it on to the next budding generation of mechanical engineers. It's a good price for a practical, hands-on way to learn about cause and effect and the general study of how things work. I cannot image a child not showing interest in something like this, but everyone has their own particular interests. If you know a child who especially likes to problem solve and see or figure out how things work, this would make a very nice gift.
