So this turned out as great as I hoped for. I used this, which I got for $25, equal or less than prices at Lowes and Home Depot. It came out so successfully and I'm so happy but read on and learn what else I did for great results.I prepped the ground, eliminated as much existing plant matter from the area as possible. Once that was out of the way I blended my soil with Scotts Turf Builder Lawn Soil, regular top soil and compost. Then I seeded and blended that layer of mixed soil in with the grass. Since animals eating seeds are reportedly an issue I covered the seeded soil with some green netting, real cheap and didn't see one bird attempt to get near or under it. After some time I added starter fertilizer that claims to have it come in thicker, and it did. Throughout all these stages I watered it 2-3 times a day which I hear is critical. All in all it was a great success and I'm very proud. Following these steps I was able to get my yard lawn to be beautiful even while planting in early spring, which isn't recommended. The grass is soft, fine leafed and lush green.I used a whole bag to cover about 1000 sqft. I write this in May so if you're reading this in August - October, your time has come, plant your grass! Do your research and at minimum read what I've learned above. Good luck!

Pricey
It is a bit pricey with not too much seeds. It does grow fast though!

Easy to Sow with Outstanding Germination
We are using this Sunny mix grass seed to fill in bare lawn spots in our front and back yards. Very happy with the ease of spreading the seed by hand, and its quick germination. A good value, too.I highly recommend this product.

Takes a long time to grow. Some of the seeds are still lying around, being stubborn. I gotta order some more, guess I'll hafta come up with a better strategy.

Awful chemicals
This is awful for our earth. Read the package. I mean you have to blow it off a driveway, not get near any water source and that’s what will impenetraye yiur soil and your grass will grow with the chemical soil and your pets, children and adults who enjoy laying in the grass will be laying on chemically grown grass that certainly will end up in the groundwater. Gross. Just don’t. And these companies justNeed to stop too.

Good generic mix
I use this mix for family and friend's grave plots that have little shade. If you can get a good foothold before the onslaught of contract landscapers it is very hardy.

Who knew I could grow grass?
Applied to damaged part of lawn in late September (zone 7 I think - mid to northern NJ) and seed has sprouted within a week. Incredibly happy with the results. I raked the dead spots, puf down the seed and watered it fairly religiously (luckily it rained as well). I would have been happy with a single blade growing - instead I’ve gotten nice patches of new grass growing! It’s like a miracle (I’m quite new to lawn maintenance). Next time I will take the dead spots a bit more and probably mix the seed with fresh soil to really encourage growth. All in all quite pleased with the early results.
