Love the 3D aspect
The wife and I love to play escape room board games and this one turned out to be one of our favorites. It is long. We had to play it over a stretch of three days, but that's what games are for...entertainment. The puzzles are clever and challenging without being impossible. We really enjoyed building the castle as we went and the three dimensional aspect of the game made it different from your standard escape room games. The only thing that we didn't like, and it is a minor point, is having to "scratch off" the solutions and hints. The little silver scrapings made a mess. Other than that, would highly recommend this game to everyone from novices to experts. It's hours of brain challenging fun.

Fun game for date night
I would recommend this to anyone who loves puzzles. We had so much fun. You have the option to split the game into two parts for time. We ended up playing straight through. The items are high quality and the story/puzzles keep you engaged. Looking forward to trying more from this brand.

Very Stupid
The escape room starts somewhat strong with a clear story and puzzles that can be followed without hints. At the end of the first half, both go downhill. The puzzles and story are difficult to follow. We couldn't keep track of which room we were supposed to be in, and for almost every puzzle we needed to get some sort of hint. Frequently we found that the hints were telling us to do things we had already done, and we were unable to convert those actions into an actual answer. Normally we keep our escape rooms after we play it, but this went straight into the trash.

Great game
A couple of questionable puzzles, but 18/20 were great!!

Best escape room game like this I've ever played
I've played maybe 10 other escape room and mystery games. I love them. This is the best I've played by far. The challenges were creative, challenging, and super satisfying to complete.

Poorly designed
(Fyi, didn't buy on Amazon, got it at Walmart). My wife and I are wondering if this is one of those products where the seller sends you a "Give us 5 stars and we'll give you $50" flyers in the mail that Amazon wants you to report. This game is awful. The South Tower puzzle doesn't fit together - the pieces slide right through the slots which make it genuinely impossible if someone isn't holding all 4 of them in place. Overall, the game lacks direction and clarity, both in guiding you to the next puzzle and narrative. There were a handful of puzzles between the Laboratory and the Ending where the puzzle was just...there. No narrative explaining what room we were in, why we were there, or why we were doing what we were doing. "Oh...I guess we're in this room now" was a common phrase. Just YouTube "Curse of the Dark playthrough" and watch how many people go "Ok...now what?" in the first 10 minutes. And if you DO choose to buy this game, here's some genuine advice that would have been helpful to know. The instructions are poor. There's a page in the instruction manual where there's a bunch of scratch off sections underneath symbols. The booklet says to "scratch them off to see if you're right." That's NOT the "puzzle solultion" section. You need to scratch them off to advance the game. "The focus of the game is to find these symbols, scratch the corresponding section off, then use whatever game element is written under the scratch off section" would have been useful to read. This is not explained in the manual. We threw the game out right after we finished it

Bigger and better than expected!
We've just finished our play through, 2 sessions, both around 90 minutes in length. We LOVED It. Curse of the dark perfectly straddles Escape Room games and "draw a numbered card" type adventure games. Puzzles were challenging and fun, and the production quality is high. Highly recommended and would even gift this to friends. Do take note that you will likely destroy game materials as you solve puzzles. Fantastic value for money especially given how big the box is. We're already teeing up buying other games from this business.

Brilliant
Great game bought several for people at Christmas. Our one was missing the red stain glass window which was disappointing. But great puzzle.

Real fun
We loved it. Some of the 3d pieces were a bit difficult to use (you need to use a bit of imagination to see what you are supposed to see) but overall it’s a great game and kept us entertained for over the 3hrs suggested. It took us about 5 hours to complete, with a few snack breaks but I’d say that 3 hours would be pretty impressive to achieve

High quality puzzle game
Easily the best single use escape room puzzle we’ve bought. Lots of varied puzzles with easy to understand instructions and hints. Highly recommended

Did not enjoy.
Bought this to play with my wife and two teenage daughters. My daughters soon lost interest leaving my wife and I to struggle on to the half way point. It was here we decided to bin it as we were just not enjoying it. The puzzles were far too obtuse and as another reviewer said, even when you looked up the answer you still couldn't see how you could have come to that conclusion. A shame as I had high hopes for it.
