A must read
I wasn't totally sure what I was getting myself into when I started reading this book. It's honestly been one of the best reads of my life. Every male should at least give t a chance and see what they puck up.

Wow! If you are male or know one, read this!
Such a compassionate, thoughtful, interesting, and intelligent exploration of masculinity - where it's been, where it is, and what younger people should think about as they attempt to redefine masculinity for the next generations. He doesn't claim to have the answers, but he tries to imbue his son (and the reader) with a good understanding of the landscape of masculinity in our culture and some of the ways to think about it that will be helpful as we all navigate and change masculinity moving forward. He is not prescriptive, but he does help us better understand the complexities, costs, and benefits of different acts of masculinity and privilege, while avoiding the current trend of denigrating maleness. He's objective without being ungenerous or naive or utopian in his thinking. Can't recommend this book highly enough. Read it, tell others, give it as a gift to men (and women) in your life. Feminism showed that we get to define what the terms feminine mean, so why can't we do the same thing with masculine? The perfect book for this moment.

I loved this book!
Not just for those who have a son but for anyone who has children of any gender, or frankly, ever was a child. Very funny in places. Thoughtful. And oh. So. True.

Sometimes wise, always heartfelt
A good book to affirm how many questions there are in this world for parents of boys, and girls. The book is sad, wry, and makes you think. I’d recommend it to any parent, except the ones who don’t like their children.

Really amazing book!
I am a fan of Michael Ian Black. I was so excited that he was releasing another book. This book is more serious then his last books. I really loved this book, I think everyone should read it. Not only does it tackle the issues with men but Michael also explains how he felt at certain times in his life. I really loved it and highly recommend it!

Honest and Helpful
Some of the stories will make you cringe about your own time in high school but mostly, this book is helpful to those of us raising boys. Full of reminders about the importance of being vulnerable and honest about who you are. I read it in two days and bought copies for a few of my friends to read, too.

Honest
Thank you for sharing. I felt your honesty loud and clear throughout this book. I couldn’t help thinking that those who need to read this never will and that is sad. We all need to give and receive love.

Wonderful
I don’t have kids but I loved this book. A wonderful way to talk about toxic masculinity- or just the premise of questioning gender roles itself.
