Astronaut Freeze Dried Ice Cream, One Serving Pouch

If you want to try something new then this is great but it just takes away from what makes ice cream, ice cream.

As in the title, I enjoyed tasting it and the new experience of it. I wish that it had come in a solid piece instead of dozens however. It was sincerely smashed to bits.

This is such a fun, educational product. It's perfect for children or for the adult in your life who's a child at heart. I bought it for my fiance for our anniversary because we have fond memories of going to a science museum together in the beginning of our relationship. I've also bought these for my brother a few years back as well. It just makes for such a unique gift. As far as taste goes, it tastes pretty much like what you would expect freeze dried ice cream to taste. It's sweet and it melts in your mouth. Is it delicious? Not particularly, but I don't really think that's the point of this product. Above all, it's supposed to give you an authentic "astronaut experience" and stir up your imagination a little, and it accomplishes that.

When teaching one of my students about space and astronauts, I wanted to surprise him with a little gift! This is perfect for kids learning about space because they can experience freeze dried ice cream and discover how astronauts eat. The flavor was great and everything he imagined. It's a great learning tool and good for giving kids new experiences with food.

I remember the first time I had astronaut ice cream; I loved it so much I wanted to keep eating it! The Neapolitan was always my favorite so I found a store (not so nearby) that sold it at about $5-6 a pack. That's a lot of money for one pack of ice cream and the distance to the store wasn't worth the drive. I looked on Amazon and saw that they sell it by the case. By the case! I have ordered about 4 cases in the last year or so because it never gets old! Some people are put off by the texture of it and I can understand that. If you've never had freeze-dried food then I suggest buying a single pack and trying it before committing to a 10-pack. If you like it, buy the case! It tastes good, it's a good price, and it's just fun to eat and share with friends!

Dehydrated ice cream is a very unique experience, and I love it. I used to get these for Christmas when I was growing up, and now that I can buy it here (and for relatively cheap compared to what they used to cost in local museums and gift shops) I am able to enjoy it more often.The packaging has always been well sealed on the outside, but they are quite fragile so usually the ice cream itself is shattered into quite a few pieces (though not too tiny). The inside wrapper is always torn as other reviews have mentioned, but if you read the back they actually *say* it will have slits in it because of the way it is processed. I'm not exactly sure how that works, but it's not a mistake or something to be worried about.I will continue buying these on Amazon!
