Crossovers Expanded, Volume 1

The Secret History of the World Continues!
This is Sean Lee Levins' masterpiece -- in the original sense of the word. That is, that work a student produces to demonstrate that he or she has achieved the status of a master of his or her genre. Levins had been honing his scholarly synthesizing skills for some time, readying this work for publication. And the result? Levins has succeeded in writing the perfect complement to Win Eckert's original "Crossovers, A Secret History of the World," vols. one and two. Anyone who owns the original books should definitely purchase these follow up tomes as well. Each entry has the potential to open your eyes to an enjoyable reading experience you might go your whole life and never knew existed otherwise! The collision of entire fictional worlds awaits you in these pages !

Essential for Fans of Any Sort of Fiction
I'm glad I held off as long as I did on picking up Win Scott Eckert's first two volumes of Crossovers, because by the time I was done with those, Mr. Levin had released his own contributions to the idea. Levin has done exceptional work in continuing research into all the ways that stories overlap and bounce off each other--the sort of "creative mythography" coined by Philip Jose Farmer in his seminal foundation-laying books for his "Wold Newton Family" concept. The idea of everyone's favorite characters, from Sherlock Holmes and Captain Nemo to Napoleon Solo and Knight Rider, running into each other and growing together in the same space, is a wonderful notion, suggesting that every story ever told is part of a much larger story. The Crossover Universe is the sum of our fiction, and therefore, it is our secret history. Like real history, it is perpetually growing, and as complete as Levin's work is, I can't help but wonder and hope that we'll be seeing more of these books in some potential future timeline, bringing in more characters, more ideas, and more adventures. Is it fan-ishness, to an extent? Absolutely. But there's nothing wrong with that. In our postmodern world there's something compelling about being a fan, something that I think is even now just beginning to push at the threshold of academia. Culture, after all, is a long cycle of inmates removing the former doctors from office. I could ramble on about this forever. The point is: if you like books, TV, movies, or games--especially the great game of Fiction Unification--grab the Crossovers series. You won't regret it.

Couldn't wait to read these books as soon as I heard about them.
I loved reading both volumes of this book.Beautiful covers and fun scans inside.Books, tv shows and movies, all with connections to each other.Absolutely stuffed to the brim with all the stuff I love!!!So many crossover stories I did not know existed, and the info given is just enough to whet my appetite to buy and read a lot of these stories.Sean gives each entry just the right amount of description without spoiling it.He picks up seamlessly where his mentor, friend and predecessor Win Scott Eckert left off. These volumes patch together the most amazing universe of stories and characters.Anyone running a Call of Cthulhu, Pulp Adventure or Steampunk RPG campaign would get a lot of use out of these tomes!Read it through like a novel, or just pick a page and fall down a rabbit hole of fun.Highly recommend!!!!!

An invaluable resource
With "Crossovers Expanded," Sean Lee Levin has done a masterful job of picking up where Win Scott Eckert left of with his massive two-volume "Crossovers: A Secret Chronology of the World." Like Eckert's compendium of pop culture crossovers from literature, comics, film, and TV, Levin's expansions are meticulously researched and an invaluable resource, whether you're a lover of metafiction or you simply enjoy working out your own head-canon. The two volumes span from the dawn of time to the far future, and it's highly enjoyable to open up one of the books at random and read an entry, which never fails to draw me in to read more.

Sean Levin has done an excellent and exhausted undertaking
Sean Levin has done an excellent and exhausted undertaking. If you are a fan of Philip Jose Farmer's Wold Newton Universe or Crossovers in general you will want this. Levin includes great many works of fiction ranging from bestsellers (Stephen King, Robert Crais) to classics (H. Rider Haggard, Evelyn Waugh) to less known but still worthy works (Josh Reynolds, Derrick Ferguson.)
