Clouser's Flies: Tying and Fishing the Fly Patterns of Bob Clouser
I**R
I've waited for this book for a long time.
If you are reading this review you must know who Bob Clouser is and why he is so deservedly famous among fly fishermen. This book gives you detailed and clearly illustrated instructions for tying his extremely effective fly patterns. He also discusses the best materials, colors and tying techniques to use with each fly. I thought I was pretty good at tying all types of Clouser flys but this book offers tips and tricks that immediately improved my tying. It also illustrates several patterns that I've never seen before even though I try and visit his shop in Middletown at least once a year. Perhaps the most important information you will learn from this book is how to present and fish these flys more effectively. Bob discusses and gives tips on the best presentation/fishing techniques for each fly. In short, here between two covers is everything you could need or want to know about Clouser flys.If it sounds like I'm extremely enthusiastic about Clouser flys I think I have a reason to be. The biggest fly rod fish I've ever caught in the salt the Delaware river and the Schuylkill rever were all caught on Clouser flys. I think every fly fisher should add this book to his or her library.

Perfect
Every fly tyer should own this book! I’m looking to buy it in a hard cover book so that it will last forever. At the present I have the Kindle version. Text, pictures, are proper size and crystal clear. This book is packed with information that will improve your fishing as well as your fly tying techniques.

It's a classic, what can I say? This ...
It's a classic, what can I say? This book has launched a thousand thousand Deep Minnows into every type of water on every continent on every condition. Bob Clousers patterns have spawned whole genres of fly tying. There is some padding in the book, to be honest. Many of the patterns are just variations, using different materials, on the basic deep minnow theme. But really that's ok, because it does demonstrate the versatility and adaptability of the basic design. Of course, at the time of publication, many of the alternative materials he introduces were not in widespread or common use.If you are a fly tier or even just a fly fisherman, this book should be on your shelf. You will find yourself turning to it as a reference often, and of course if you ever don't know what to tie on, try a Clouser Minnow.

Lessons from a master
This was my second fly tying book, after the Orvis Fly Tying Book by Tom Rosenbauer. I bought it on the recommendation of a friend who's been tying for his whole life and am not disappointed. Bob Clouser is a master fresh and salt water fisherman, and an excellent teacher. His introduction is easy to follow and builds a foundation for all his flies. I have tied the Deep Clouser Minnow, and the Swimming Nymph using the easy to follow step by step instructions and used both to excellent effects. The other flies ain the book are for big salt water game, large and small mouth bass and I'm not interested in that kind of fishing at this time. A few other you can use for trout.

Shows how to tie a Clouser minnow
Nice and clear photos but what is really neat is Clouser's summary on his flies development and how to use them.
