You have to remove the seat cushion assembly and partially remove the seat cover
Used this for a couch double recliner. One side quit working. Installation was a couple hour job. Hardest part was getting under the cushion “in closed position” to remove the cushion assy and also removing the old buttons. Mine were riveted into the leather which made it extremely difficult to remove without damaging the leather fabric. But got it installed and working properly. 2nd set of touch buttons were useless so I tucked them up inside the netting
