A great foundation and in continued use in our house.
I have had this book for a couple of years now and I am happy to report that it continues to be a great resource. As so many others say, this book got me over my fear of pressure cooking (a childhood memory of a blown lid) and gave me the confidence to purchase one of the new, very safe electric pressure cookers. I understand that the old safety issues have been resolved with the new stove top models, too. Jill's recipes are great. I use them as presented and as inspiration for my own creativity. I started with Shane's Fabulous Lentil Soup. I was hooked. But I have to especially give lots of thanks for the well written general education on pressure cooking. I still go back to it for reference. Thanks, Jill!I am looking forward to trying the new "Nutrition Champs" Book I just received, but wanted to give an update on my "New Fast Food..." experience.

One-stop shop for easy weekday meals!
I am so happy that I bought this book! I wasn't sure if I should be buying yet another vegan cookbook, especially when I already have Nussinow's "Vegan Under Pressure." Her other book is more comprehensive and has lots of interesting and delicious recipes, but most of them are a little fancier and more involved than I feel like doing on a weekday after work."The New Fast Food," on the other hand, is exactly what I was looking for. There are so many easy recipes that let me throw a bunch of stuff into my Instant Pot and come out with a complete meal. Compared to "Vegan Under Pressure," the recipes have fewer ingredients, and I find that there are more all-in-one dishes that include a protein, some good veggies, and a grain all together. There are also plenty that have a blend of hearty protein and veggies so I just have to put some rice in the rice cooker on the side.Unlike "Vegan Under Pressure," Nussinow does not give specific directions for the Instant Pot or other electric pressure cookers in "The New Fast Food," but I have just been following the stovetop directions and everything has turned out fine so far!If you want vegan Instant Pot cooking to feel EASY, get this book!

Now I cook -- works great with Instant Pot digital pressure cooker
I've gone from not cooking much at all to using the New Fast Food on a near daily basis with our Instant Pot digital pressure cooker. Although she is down on digital pressure cookers in the introduction of the book, she has a follow-up blog post on her blog that explains that the book went to press before she'd tried the Instant Pot. She now endorses the Instant Pot and offers a discount it. I expected to need to modify the recipes for the Instant Pot, but I have tried several and they generally need no modification all.The recipes are truly fast, easy and delicious. I used it last night with timer feature on the Instant Pot to have porridge ready this morning. My wife used it quickly to make green beans for my daughter's launch box today. (Just one minute at pressure!), and we will likely use the pressure cooker and this cookbook for dinner tonight as well.I've already bought three copies of this cookbook for friends and family, who are also reporting their enjoyment.Highly endorsed.

Disregard page on electric pressure cookers
One page covers electric pressure cookers. And is very negative on them. I happened to buy 2 of her books at the same time. In the newer book she states that the electric works with these recipes and explains why and pretty much sums it up to instead of natural release completely can compensate for slower release with doing quick release after about 12 minutes which many recipes in other books call for. Unfortunate the old cookbook didn’t have a ebook version at least on kindle that would update this information.The book has great insights and good recipes. I started with 1 star and was going to return since the book focused on manual, the electric comments were really negative and adjustments needed without a how to. Then when I saw it could be used based on her more recent book comments I changed it to 3 stars. Then after digging into the book and seeing the recipes and comments within I deleted my initial very negative review and added a star. My advice don’t read the page in electric pressure cookers. It is a good book otherwise.

My favorite and most used cookbook!
We are a family of vegetarians with two kids under 8. Life is busy and fast and it is often hard to provide a whole foods meal during the week. But that is where pressure cooking comes in for us. It has truly revolutionized how I feed my family and I use my pressure cooker most days of the week. The New Fast Food has great recipes that I turn to over and over again and also provides basic instruction on pressure cooking for those that might be new to it. The recipes also work well with the seasonal produce we get from our garden and CSA share. Tonight I made the "Simple Greens with Garlic" recipe with collards, mixed greens and kale and you know what... my 6 year old daughter ate three servings. Amazing. It inspired me to get online and write this review. Five stars in my opinion for sure.

I need colored photos, I guess
I didn’t realize how much I rely on colored photos to select recipes to cook and to help me know what to expect. This book has black & white photos that aren’t helpful for me because they are of the vegetables or grains rather than the completed product. I can’t speak to the quality of recipes and nutritional info.because I can’t bring myself to use it. I will either give it away or junk it.

Ottimo per le Pentole a Pressione
Se conosci l'inglese e vuoi leggere un buon libro e ricette sulla pentola a pressione, questo è sicuramente adatto.Il libro è rivolto più ad una cucina vegan, ed orientato su verdure, risi, grani, legumi etc.Un vantaggio è che l'autrice ha sperimentato varie tecniche per ridurre i tempi di cottura al massimo ed ha fatto delle tabelle di riferimento molto comode con le quantità di alimenti, misure dell'acqua e tempi di cottura.Il libro è valido se si usano anche pentole a pressione elettroniche tipo la Instant Pot che ho acquistato.Alla fine del libro c'è anche il link per scaricare gratuitamente in pdf le tabelle degli alimenti così da poterle avere più a portata di mano piuttosto che portarsi sempre il libro in cucina.

schwarz weißes Kochbuch fast ohne Bilder
So bunt wie das Titelbild ist im Kochbuch leider gar nichts. Ein Kochbuch ohne ansprechende farbige Bilder finde ich persönlich nicht ansprechend. Inhaltlich ansonsten ganz in Ordnung, eine wirklich umfassende Tabelle mit Garzeiten und interessante Rezepte, die allerdings teils sehr ähnlich sind. Mich hat es nicht überzeugt, auch zu dem Preis, daher ging es zurück.

Not being a vegetarian or using a pressure cooker this review is on hearsay. As a present it was well received and I am told that many of the recipes are interesting and those that have been used very tasty
