Garden Creations JB4710 Extendable Instant Fence

I actually loved the look and convenience of this gate when I got it. I have very large dogs which will not try to push over or go over a gated barrier even if it is weak. I needed something able to be closed and opened easily just to keep them in an area of the house when company was over or if they were wet from being outside, etc. This worked marvelous for about 2 weeks. They never attempted to cross the barrier and it was simple to collapse and put in a closet. One day I touched it to open it and the whole right post fell completely off and a couple slats broke along with it. This was from me simply touching it to open it. These are very fragile and made with the thinnest lightweight wood I have ever seen. Just a step up from cardboard actually. Would not buy again nor recommend.

I liked this product for what I needed it for that's why 5 stars. Looks exactly like on the product picture, may need some extra support, or a little minor adjustment while putting it together. You need to consider that it is not surdy enough to withstand pressure. For example, I would not use it as a baby safety/guarding gate. It will not withstand high winds outside, buy it can nicely devide your balcony space or be used as a small climing plant trellis. So, I bought 2, love both of them. I think the price is great. Recommend this product, but just think weather or not it will be useful for what you need it for.

As the saying goes, you get what you pay for. This inexpensive gate is quite flimsy, and I do not expect it to hold up to daily use for more than a few weeks. I am using it to prevent two small dogs from going down the stairs from my main level in my home to the finished basement family room. The gate is very light weight, and the dogs have been able to move the gate with their noses, so I weight it down with a heavier item to keep them from moving it. The wood is very dry, and I have noticed several cracks in the wood. With repeated, daily use, I expect different areas of the gate will start to come apart. When this happens, I do not know how easy it will be to repair. The concept is a great idea (wood, expandable and light-weight), but the execution as done in this product reflects the low retail price point; you get what you pay for. I would really like to find a similar product done with better materials, a little heavier, that could be advertised as safe for kids and small pets.

This gate does the trick but, it is very cheaply made. The gate is so cheaply made that I feel like I'm going to break it every time I pick it up. After 3 days I already lost one nail that was holding 1 of the pickets the other. I would recommend spending the extra money and getting a sturdy set of plastic gates instead of this cheap wood version.

You need to know that the lattice stands several inches from the ground. As delivered, a small pet can run right under it. It is also very lightweight. So, if you put it on tile or hardwood, even a small pet can slide it aside and go around it. However, on carpet it is more difficult to slide ... and would discourage up to a medium sized dog that isn't too persistent. I used it on a carpeted stairway to keep a small dog from running upstairs, and it seemed fine for that. I had 2 of these. One I altered to make it lower to the ground, the other I didn't change at all.My original review was 3 stars. To my dismay, within a very few weeks, they have both fallen apart - modified or not. It is very poorly constructed. Unless they are basically a permanently placed barrier, they are not up to being expanded and collapsed for people to come and go. Don't know any other purpose for an extendable fence, so it was a waste of money for me.

I share a small balcony with a new neighbor who just moved in with a dog. It was getting a little crowded and I wanted a clear barrier to delineate our sides. I SCOURED the internet for a free standing fence/gate and this is the only one that I found. We can't nail or screw anything into the wall or floor, and none of the tension baby gates I found were wide enough.His dog is fairly well behaved, so I wasn't worried about needing this to stop a full body slam (which it certainly wouldn't).I read the reviews and took a chance on this fence , and it works just fine! Yes, the lattice part IS flimsy, this would not work for hyperactive dogs or toddlers, or high winds for that matter, it would fall right over. But for a lightweight, simple and cheap barrier, this works great.Mine came with all the pieces (the fence, two feet, 4 screws, 4 nuts, 4 washers) and I assembled in about 5 minutes.

I wasn't sure what to expect. I ordered this to place at the doorway to my laundry room as one of my dogs can jump up and open doors with lever handles. So the framing is damaged.I pulled this out of its box and thought that is really is intended for the garden but it was a good price so I tried it.The smell of the cedar and being able to just open it a little bit to cover the door frame next to the door handle is doing the trick. No more jumping to open the door and ransack the laundry room.

Buying this fence left me extremely disappointed. First of all, I should have listened to the negative review. I am soooooo sorry I didn't. While the quality is very bad, my fence was delivered broken. With that in mind, I suggest you read the return policy before purchasing. The return policy is very time consuming. As a result of the matter, I paid $15.28 for the fence, $9.95 for shipping charges, and $11.50 to return the defective fence. I paid more for a defective fence than the original cost of the fence. All of that, was not worth my valuable time.All of the reviews, explaining the more quality of this fence are really telling the truth. The only way this fence could possibly work is to put it up and never ever touch it again. However, since my fence came broken, I couldn't try to use it at all. But, anyone could tell that it would not have last for a full day.Tracey

This product was extremely poor quality. I would not have ordered had I known it was made from such light weight inexpensive "wood."I could have built a far better quality product myself for far less money. I am extremely disappointed. I ordered 2. One is so full of defects it is not even worth using.

After recently staying in a rental there was something similar to this in property apparently a guest had bought it to stop toddler climbing up steep spiral stairs we used it to stop out little dachshunds doing the same. Worked excellent. Bought this for same reason. I know it’s for garden but for my use legs very big. In my opinion if you were to use for garden it’s very light weight and unless secure will come down with a bit of wind.

The construction is not steady, the material used was not suitable. It is cosmetic and decorative and not a working tool.

Horrible. Broke within minutes.
