My son enjoys these books and likes to get one in his Christmas stocking since he was age 9. He is 12 now and still enjoys reading them.

Wow. These are amazing. I appear to have inadvertently bought 3 copies. One for my kids. One is destined for NZ in exchange of vol 3 which (at the time of my deal with my aunt) wasn’t available in the UK. Ordinarily I’d be really cross with myself, but I genuinely don’t mind my error. I can’t wait to find a deserving home for the mistake! So. These are reissued from the originals. Yes, they have different covers. I’m ridiculously grateful because my kids and I LOVE volume 1 and we couldn’t find volume 2 anywhere. A desperate last-ditch Facebook message to the author (expecting very little) heralded a friendly response with this fabulous news - that the reprints would be out soon! Neill is awesome!My kids are firmly Team Freddie, but I love the really sensitive handling of really BIG issues of all the facets of identity that Alex is exploring. The art is stunningly beautiful. The characters are touching, hilarious and genuine. I read this aloud to my kids at bedtime. Strictly rationed to last longer. (Look out for the French speaking robot gorilla!) We have to re-read sections so everyone can do the voices…These are brilliant. I’m already planning how many copies of the Freddie books I’m going to need.Get these. My kids weren’t ready when we got vol 1 last Christmas, but 6 months later we’re all obsessed!

I bought this book believing that it was a new story as the title and front cover are different to the books published in 2017. The 2017 version (on the left in the photo) and 2021 version (on the right in the photo) are the same book with a new title and cover on the 2021 version. The 2021 book says on the inside of the front cover ‘first published in 2021’, but it really is the same story published in 2017, so please don’t be fooled like I was in thinking that this is a new story. To be fair, my boys love the story hence I bought them what I thought was the next in the series, but now I have multiple copies.

The Child it was bought for says the first book he has is brilliant, (except for fused pages condition) so I bought the second book. This book got delivered elsewhere
