BCP Fasteners 50 Qty #8 x 1" 304 Stainless Steel Phillips Modified Truss Head Wood Screws (BCP1211)

I refurbished a 76 year old Flexible Flyer sled & used these SS modified truss head screws to replace pan head screws that were uncomfortable to lie or sit on. These truss head screws have a 2 level wider but shorter head than pan head. These are comfortable, good looking & rust proof. Sled originally had nails but they had loosened & the sleds old white oak was too hard to drive nails in so I originally used pan head screws with proper pilot holes with screw major diameter holes in the slats & minor diameter holes in the frame. The pan head screws worked but could snag clothing etc. plus they were only galvanized.

Very good quality screws. I needed stainless wood screws with a wide, but low height, head for an exterior project joining sheet metal to wood. Bright and attractive.

Living in a small town out local hardware store just can't stock every size and style of fastener. The brand they carry is "Hillman" and these fasteners seem every bit as good or better. My application didn't put a lot of stress on them but the heads held up to my impact driver (no stripped heads at all) and the stainless was mildly magnetic which implies decent quality. I'd buy these again...in fact I did in another size with equally good results.
