Love this book!
I originally got this book when I was in elementary school (I'mnow 47), and it has always been one of my favorites. I only found a few years ago that there tornadoes written about in Grand Island were from a true event! I remember as a child being sucked (haha) into this world of Dan Hatch and the awful night's events, and being mesmerized.

Saw The Movie, Now To Read The Book That Started It All
The Night of the Twisters's movie had me reeling into the original storybook that started it all in the first place. Much like many other kids and teens books into movies, I couldn't ignore this one.

Worth the Wait
I read this book throughout grade school and am delighted to have found the same hard cover copy that I so fondly remember. As the other reviews have mentioned, it's a great, easy reading story for kids (and us adults who still love it). What I would like to mention is the great experience I had with the seller, Best Bargain Books. When I emailed them to say it had arrived on time, they promptly replied to my email to address my concerns. It arrived shortly thereafter, and it was worth the wait. The book is in perfect condition, which is notable considering this edition was published in 1984. I am very pleased with my experience and highly recommend it to interested readers!

Mother & Son Approved!
My 9 year old was reading this in school and I had always wanted to read it—so I did. I honestly couldn’t put it down and the two of us have been walking about it for weeks after.

Exciting Story!
Exciting, quick book. We got this because it is a battle book for the fourth grade, and my fourth grader and I took turns reading it out loud. She couldn't wait to finish it and took it after I finished reading at bedtime and finished the book.

New??
The cover of the book was so bent in half it looks like it's about to come off. The rest if the book is fine, but when the condition says new, I expect more. Other than that happy purchase.

Excellent Real Life Suspense
I bought this book to be used in a fifth grade class Book Bowl competition. I read it myself so I could write questions. Wow! It held my attention. This book brought home the reality of living through a tornado: it's a very personal first person account as Dan and his friend Arthur not only survive but save Dan's baby brother as well as an elderly neighbor. It's a kids-as-heroes book!

I met the author
Enjoyable read. I was able to meet Ivy shortly before she passed away. This lovely lady and her son were very friendly.
