Great Stories
I teach international law and we cover many of the cases discussed in International Law Stories. The background information and analysis in this volume are invaluable - it gives the cases context and like much of international law is a real primer on U.S. history - something most Americans seem to know very little about these days. Janis and Noyes also have a great textbook on international law and the students love it because it provides the history and context that brings cases alive. These are great stories and I highly recommend this book for anyone who is interested in the American story from a slightly different angle - you need not be a lawyer or law student. It is fascinating, good reading and the authors are some of the leading scholars in international law, including the current legal advisor to the State Department (written when he was Dean of Yale Law School).

My students love it!
This book fills an incredibly huge gap existing in the teaching materials for International Law. I have been using this book continuously since the year of its publication, and by now some hundreds of students have benefited from it hugely. There is nothing like it, otherwise, at least to my knowledge. I have heard so many good words about this book from my students both at Stanford and at the University of San Francisco that I am actually surprised at myself why it never it had occurred to me to recommend this book publicly.... In any case, it has my highest praise and recommendation! Excellent editorial job, much lively detail, as a wonderful background to otherwise (potentially) dry cases.

Great book!!
This is a brilliant book and should be required reading for law students and practitioners with an interest in international law. The editors offer engrossing and informative case studies that all in the field should be knowledgeable about. The book would a great primer for students before taking/while taking an introductory international law course. On other hand, a law professor could build an outstanding advanced seminar around this book.

Great book
Teaching the law I've learned one thing - you have to know the facts to understand the reasoning of the court. 'International Law Stories' gives its reader a fantastic background to the fundamental cases of public international law. I highly recommend it to everyone interested in this particular branch of law.
