My high school age son carried his backpacks with just one strap habitually -- which means the backpacks were being carried and pulled in a way they weren't designed to take weight and they seemed to wear out frequently. He felt that backpacks weren't working for him so he wanted to try a messenger bag this school year. We looked at all the local stores and couldn't find anything that fit his needs/wants. He has a significant number of text books so he needed a large study bag and he has an array of calculators and computer gadgets so he needed lots of pockets which could be securely closed to keep things from falling out - and this bag checked every box. Masculine enough for him and large enough with enough secure pockets to make it practical. So far - he is extremely pleased. The best part -- there is a small handle on the back that makes it easy to grab it - a nice surprise.I was a tad hesitant to order a bag that had to travel so far (it is shipped from China when you order it) and took so long to get here - but it seemed to be what he wanted and I couldn't find anything comparable locally so I tried it. The bag arrived about 1 1/2 weeks before the estimated arrival date which was good because even with ordering it several weeks ago -- I wanted it before school started and it arrived just before classes started. It was well packed and protected to ship. Seems sturdy enough and well made and I'm comfortable that the pockets are secure enough to keep his expensive calculator and gadgets from falling out. Before I ordered, I read a few reviews that suggested the strap wears out - and though it is to early to tell, I'm hopeful that won't be a problem. If the strap does come unstitched, as long as the rest of the bag is still holding up, I think a quick trip to the local shoe repair shop to re-stitch/reinforce that strap would be relatively inexpensive so it is worth the risk to me.So far, I'm very pleased about the price and quality. My picky teenaged son is pleased about the appearance and function. Happy that we ordered this.Update 3/6/15 -- The stitching did start to unravel on one side - something that I'm not surprised to find since my son carries A LOT of heavy books and this poor bag is being used and abused daily. We took it into the shoe repair store who re-stitched both sides for around $5. I'm still very pleased with the bag. None of the backpacks he has used held up this long - so the $5 to reinforce the straps is a bargain in my book and the bag has held up very well.

Sturdy materials, well made, totally satisfied.

I bought this bag to replace my old laptop case. It was the kind that reached its peak in the mid-2000s, when laptops were thicker and heavier than they are now; a bulky, gray nylon rectangle with stiff sides and rubber feet. This is ten times better than that old thing. Better style, lighter weight and makes better use of the space.I'm not worried about it falling apart taking it back and forth to work, dragging it in and out of my car and up and down the stairs at my office and in my house. I don't travel, so I can't speak to its durability getting pulled in and out from under airline seats and overhead bins and manhandled by overzealous airport security officers. It feels like it would hold up pretty well, though. The canvas is heavy and the stitching is well done. There's enough space inside for my 15.6" Toshiba laptop, a couple of folders and a day planner. The laptop charger, a wireless mouse and a pair of earbuds fit in the side pockets. Even fully loaded, it isn't as bulky as my old bag.I initially thought that the side pockets were for a water bottle or umbrella. Sadly, they're hard to access and too small for either. I think they're completely decorative. No big deal for me, since my tea thermos normally sits in my cupholder, but if you're looking for a bag with built-in bottle storage, be aware.Kattee, if you're listening: Please, add a top handle to this bag! That would make picking it up from the floor and my back seat much, much easier. That's the only reason I didn't rate it 5 stars. I still love it too much to return it over that, so I'm going to take it to a local leather repair shop and have one added. Definitely worth the money in every other aspect.

The bag is great! My son and son in law both have one. One uses it for travel and the other for day to day use going to work. The bag fits a lot inside and has great pockets to put smaller things. It’s also easy to clean if you get something on it.

First off I'd like to say that I really want to love this bag but it is at a really like status. This is not a laptop bag. There are no extra padding but I do carry my Ipad and laptop but there are in their own padded cases. I use the side pockets to carry laptop power brick and extra cables and such. The main compartment is open with no division or extra pockets except for one small zippered pocket on the back of the bag. This pocket is only a little over 4 inches deep and 7 inches long. You can fit a few pens, phone, misc items. The quality of the canvas itself seems good along with most of the stitching. One thing I did notice is that the leather piece the strap fits thru on the top flap is only stitched to the bag by a single stitch in the middle (see picture) when stitches on both sides would have been better. Don't know how well this will hold up. The leather straps themselves are much thinner than I'd like. The strap is nice and wide and rather long. I'm a bigger guy and this strap is great length.The things I love about the bag are:-The color and leather accents; even though the leather straps could be thicker.-The overall classic look.-the strap.Things I don't like:-Possible quality issues down the road that I noted in the upper part of review.-Inner back zipper pocket needs to be bigger.
