Excellent read!
I have been impatiently waiting for some time to settle in and read this book. I've been home for a few days under the weather, so I decided to distract myself and dive in. I have to say it was time well spent! Jon again scares the day lights out of you, while shedding light and educating the reader about important and terrifying potential realities. Doyle and Nola have evolved as dynamic, complex and lovable characters and you cannot help but become very fond of them! Thank you Jon for another thrilling and fun read! I can't wait to get my hands on the next one!

Jon McGoran Does It Again!
Fact: The number of bees in the world is declining. Some of the reasons are obvious: pesticides and GMOs, for example. Other reasons aren't so obvious. Fact: When the bees are gone, everything on planet earth dies, some quickly, others more slowly. In the exciting follow-up to Drift, Jon McGoran has taken these facts to Martha's Vineyard and added in a couple of squabbling, ruthless, puffed-up, self-important, power-crazed, greedy purveyors of corporate lies opposed by Detective Doyle Carrick and his girlfriend, Nola Watkins, along with their mutual friend Moose, a beautiful scientist (Annalisa), and a somewhat skeptical local cop named Jimmy Frank, and brought us another joy ride of a thriller! Throw a couple of unexplained deaths and a mysterious disappearance, and we're off and running!McGoran's ability to serve up science in a palatable way to us non-scientific types remains true to form as Carrick learns the facts so he can find the perpetrators while dodging Frankenbees, bullets, and mercenaries serving as "security guards." He creates believable, well-rounded characters, some much more flawed than others, for us to love, root for, feel sorry for, or downright want to punch into the next millennium, which is an art in itself. This book kept me reading late into the night so I could finish it. But don't take my word for it. Read it.

Excellent environmental thriller!
Jon McGoran has written an environmental thriller that hits all the numbers. Just a great book. Interesting characters. Terrific plot. Unique story. Also, attention to technical detail. I highly recommend this book.

Bee Careful !
Who knew what evil lurks in the hearts of bee keepers - Doyle Carrick knows, and much to his surprise a dreaded Genetically modified bee takes on all comers with one stinging rebuke after another in a rockem-sockem science thriller set on Martha's Vinyard, complete with teams of corporate sponsored killers trying to keep the lid on the GMO hives - oh it's bad. I want more and can't wait for the next installment.

So enjoyable!
I haven't read fiction for years because I find science writing so interesting. These Doyle Carrick novels make scary science enjoyable. The characters have me laughing out loud which comes as a welcome relief to me, a science slogger who tends to take life too seriously. The scenes are so intricately described that my only question is, when will this be on the big screen?
