Incredible!! So many twists and turns!!
I absolutely love this series! There is nothing like it!It picks up right when Twisted Heathens ended. Brooklyn and her guys are all dealing with the aftermath of book 1. They are struggling in some areas and changing in others. Brooklyn has the biggest hurdle as she now has a new nemesis. And this one is worse than Lazlo.Nix, Hudson, Eli and Kade are all dealing with intense feelings of betrayal, love, devotion and confusion. They go on a journey of epic proportions as they want to protect Brooklyn at all costs while still dealing with their own personal struggles. If you think you have it figured you, you don’t! There are so many twists and turns in this story and it’s so well written. I cannot wait for the conclusion…and it’s going to be epic!! J Rose…you’ve written a book that I wish was made into a movie. It would be the perfect creepy, twisty, sexy and oddly satisfying movie ever! There are a lot of trigger and content warnings for this story. It is very dark!! But if they don’t bother you this is the one to read!!

Regret
-dark-found family-mental healthThis is book two, and it didn't disappoint. This book takes you on a journey and makes you look at your own moral compass. This book reminded me of the Stanford Prison Experiment that really happened and what power and money can do. I love that Brooke, even fighting her demons, had Logan looking out for her along with the guys. This book did bring tears to my eyes when she figured out Logan. I also love that even in the worst of time, hope and love push through.

book two
Following the events in Twisted Heathens (book one), Brooklyn has to face the consequences of her actions. Believe me, she pays the price and then some. There are some relationships that are seemingly broken while those you never thought would recover have started to mend..The plot truly does thicken in this book and we start to see just how disturbed this institute is. Brooklyn sacrifices so much in this book and although she begins spiral, her character growth in this book should be noted..The smex is smexing and all the boys bring something different to the table. The toxicity they brought in the first book has begun to die down some. That’s about all I can give you because ya know spoilers..As always check the trigger warnings 💋..

Nothing is what is seems at Blackwood Institute
WOW--This book was a whole new definition of the word “toxic.” I have read so many tropes in my life as a reader, stemming all the way from average-cheating stories to dark-dark-dark. And…I genuinely believe that this series is getting close to the top of that "dark-dark" land. This book…it honestly terrified the heck out of me. I am the first one to automatically believe the government has many secrets, so who’s to say that this isn’t one of their secrets?Sure, it’s fiction.Or is it?Paranoia follows you everywhere at Blackwood Institute. You may think that you’re alone, but you’re not alone in the slightest. There are eyes everywhere, ears everywhere, and you are only fooling yourself if you think that anything will go unpunished—either from your hand or someone else’s.While the plot and storyline grip me, this one was definitely a little too drawn out for my liking. However, I’ve made it this far. Book #3, here we come.

I don't know what to say...
This series is not DARK ROMANCE... it's bl0ody dark, sad, twisted... this girl goes through so much. I hope it all ends with her and her lovers either burn1ng it all down and her getting on proper medication or them all leaving the earth together. There is no romance in this. There is taking pleasure in each other's body's and down right torture scenes. No in-between. If your looking for something like Laces.. Haunting Adleine. Mafia dark romance. This is more like A.A Dark books.. with consensual.. pleasures of the main characters. They feel they all NEED each other to survive. But only the female knows what's up..some are pretending they don't see it... I've only ever wished for characters to *leave their earth* when I read A.A Dark books. But all I wish for the MFC is to remove the bad people in the books by force. But she can't.... and she can't find peace.. I hope it does end in her smiling as she leaves her world for good....If anyone deserves peace. In any book I've every read.. im 33 and I have been reading since I learned words... she deserves it. I honestly don't see Her functioning properly in society. I'll read the 3rd one hoping that they all find peace.. in leaving their earth together or getting justice and getting healthy..

Abandon all expectations... this is far more than you could imagine!
Now THIS is a read that I took an entire day preparing for. If you've read book one, or anything by this author, you know what I'm talking about. It is a soul touching experience every time. This crew took my breath away in book one and I may have dug up an old inhaler this time around just to be safe. Eli was easily my favorite in book one and he still is honestly. It's impossible not to love them all though, I can't express enough how spectacular these characters are and how perfect the writing of these books is. Nothing touches them.Pay close attention to your triggers, take a break if you need it, but don't be afraid to where yourself in these pages. It strangely cathartic reading these for me. It's like seeing characters SO real go through something that could easily just as real shows us how much we can and will overcome. I find the safest kind of therapy for me in these books.Despite the heavy and the tragedy, these books are a safe haven. I'll love them forever. I just know Desecrated Saints won't be anything less than phenomenal.

crikey, that was heavy...
Phew. That demands a moment to compose oneself.Intense, dark, all things curious that make you question yourself and your beliefs...”Sacrificial Sinners” was everything you imagine the world isn't, wish the world wasn't, all the while accepting that somewhere, maybe not so far in distance, something evil is allowed to exist. While many of us are lucky not to have to go through quite such levels of physical and/or psychological torment as is described on these pages, there is light even in the darkest of places (because without light there can be no darkness). This book is neither “good” nor “bad”. It paints a colourful picture and puts everything (yes, existential-level “everything”) into question. I do take some kind of sick pleasure out of reading about the vilest of creatures in their depraved element, and I do enjoy the discourse around the shades of grey that is modern-day morality... mixing in the promise of a future with passion, purpose, and self-sacrificial redemption and I'm hook line and sinker.I'll say it again. This book is dark. It's even darker than part one. The things its main characters have had to endure, not just during the course of the story, but in their off-page development, is mindblowing. Mix in the everyday torment of severe neurological divergence with their own bar-setting level of demands—You couldn't make this stuff up. Well, it takes a certain kind of person to do that. And J Rose did. Quite well too. There is a level of realism that is both easy to believe and suspend, but needless to say books about mental health and trauma will always have this profound effect on me. Characters with depth and well-constructed pasts interwoven with seductive levels of charisma obviously helps. I'm just hugely appreciative that this book gave its subject the dedication and empathy it rightfully deserves while maintaining a riveting narrative and allowing us to embrace our inner sociopaths. Because make no mistake, we're all capable of it under the right circumstances.

Run for the insane, run by the insane.
The second book in the Blackwood Institute series was.. a WILD ride.𝐌𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐫. 𝐕𝐢𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐦. 𝐏𝐫𝐞𝐝𝐚𝐭𝐨𝐫. 𝐏𝐫𝐞𝐲.When the devil comes knocking, I’m forced to confront the truth. Blackwood Institute is far from what it seems. Now, I must learn how deep the darkness truly goes. I’ve been running from my demons for a long time, but the truth is about to catch up to me.Time to become the monster the world thinks I am.This book was definitely DARK and heavy on the mental health representation, pls check TW. In the beginning there was a reference to the Standford prison experiment and I can understand why. Blackwood claimed to be the future of psychiatric care were they treated patients as science projects to create perfect monsters.I have to say, because I work in psychiatry, it was sometimes a bit hard to read. But nevertheless I was intrigued by this book and I will finish this series! The ending definitely has something to do with that.. 👀

It just gets better!
5/5 starsJ.Rose is such a talented author and the way she writes such hard topics so beautifully is just incredible. This book was heartbreaking, real and raw and whilst it was hard to read at times, it was worth it in the end.My heart broke for these characters so many times during this book. They went through so much and I found myself wanting to protect them all from everything that was going on. The plot was even crazier in this one and after that ending I can’t wait to dive straight into book three to find out where it takes us next.

DARK ROMANCE READ, BOOK 2.
This is the second book in the series Blackwood Institute from this author and this is a dark, reverse harem romance read that picks right up from where the first book ended. You must read book1 first too.Brooklyn and the guys are going through so much and they each try to protect each other. They are being put through a lot at the institute and these are the patients that it seems the world had ignored and forgotten. Brooke, Hud, Nix and Eli are living in a world of hell where it seems they only have each other to help to survive. They each have different personalities and are each subjected to real mental torture and Brooke is trying desperately to make sure she knows the difference between real life and the illusion in her mind. Since this new doctor has taken over her care he doesn't really care about helping the patients in his care only about something much more darker.(NO SPOILERS)The way that this author brought these characters to life is amazing and as the reader she really makes you care for each of them individually and how broken they are all is heart breaking. They all need someone and they only have each other. This story does get your emotions all over the place and the twists and shockers in this story are nail biting and totally gripping. This story is very dark, very intense and very raw and will grip your heart and the steam in this book is H.O.T. I love all the chemistry between these four and the love story that is happening is beautifully written. This series is a roller coaster ride that everyone must read but will leave you desperately waiting impatiently for the next in the series. Please read the trigger warnings because this book does cover mental illness, self harm and dark times.
