ITS SOLE PURPOSE.... AND IT FAILS!!!
I ordered this replacement cooler plug, and the first one I installed it onto my cooler... filled it with ice, and the following day, my dining room carpet was wet!! I assumed it was the dog that had an accident.... NOPE! It's the plug that I installed!! So I had Amazon order me a replacement... I got it in about four days.. come to find out... that too also leaks!!! It's not a good replacement part for what it's meant for.. I do not recommend it!

Doesn’t stay closed
Not a tight fit so it springs open, defeating the purpose of having a sealed outlet.

Will it leak?
Installed OK but I am afraid the cap will come off and water leak out. I should have selected one with a screw on cap.

Not really designed for a Rubbermaid cooler even though it was recommended to use it on the website
