A feminists love story
This might be the perfect example of not judging a book by it's cover. Because looking at it, one might assume it's just smut. But while it was hot, it was way more than that. It was a slow burn, enemies to lovers where the sticking point was a moral quandary. Its a love letter to feminism via the #MeToo movement and also to sticking it misogyny and podcast bros. Akila really stands strong in her stance and Carlos grew a lot through the duration. I wish we got a little bit longer with them as a proper couple, but with writing this good..I'll allow it.

5 stars
Danielle Allen is so good at writing romance novels that have a lot of emotional depth and great commentary on human behaviour in general. This was a fun love story but it was also about being a woman, asserting your right to be treated like a human being, and about how men can call out other men on bad/harmful behaviour.

Took me by surprise
Do not judge this book by its cover! I loved the characters, the heat, the intensity and the empowerment in this book. Really well written.

My Thoughts...
Overall I thought this was a good and interesting book.I think both Akila and Carlos are strong and passionate characters, with chemistry.I thought the topic of conversation is very important but I would have loved some kind of resolve between City Boy and everyone.I feel that there were many things left up in the air that I would have liked some closure.Overall a 3.5
