Nice, Serviceable Scottish Dirk
Well executed dirk. I had some trepidation upon reading the other reviews about the blade being bent, or torqued. Thankfully, mine is true all the way down the blade. The sheath fit is good, but for this price point one can't expect much. It is leather, but does have foam sandwiched between the front and back pieces. I do like the hanger that is attached to the sheath. You can take the whole rig from your belt without undoing the belt itself. There is a stud on the back that allows the loop to be opened and closed. This, I thought, was a nice touch. The handle is somewhat large, but not prohibitively so. I have fairly large hands so this was not of great concern. It does seem to fit well enough for a secure grip. The swell at the center assists in this. The "damascus" blade is nicely wrought and does have the imperfections one would expect in a hand forged blade. I find this more aesthetically pleasing that some mass produced item. It does appear to be full tang as the end of the tang comes through the pommel. It is most likely a rat tail tang as the visible end is round suggesting that it was probably threaded into the pommel. But all appears solid and tight. Fit and finish are nice and I see no issue with blade play. I will, most likely, make a new single seam sheath for this to be more in line with historic pieces, but for a dirk that one can actually carry and use, as it comes is certainly serviceable. I am not privy to the tempering, but from what the description says, it should hold up to normal use. As there are few reasons to be in combat with this piece, an expert temper probably isn't needed. Will it hold an edge? I hope so. It came pretty sharp, but with a bit of a touch up, I have no doubt it will shave. The tip seems strong enough for piercing and isn't too thin, so, again, I can see it being put to use and hold its own. Is it a historical representation? No. But I see no downside to that. It will look the part enough with a new sheath. Perhaps some metal pins inserted all over the handle may assist in that. I would say that if one were to go to a local maker back in the 1700's, that this may be what he would have produced as his masterpiece of forging skill. The thickness of the blade is sufficient, not quite 3/16. But stout enough for use. I cannot flex it easily with just my hands. So, all in all, I will not have any problem putting this to good use. For the price, if it gets damaged, I would not shed too much of a tear like I would with my Tinker Pierce dirk. 450.00 gets a lot more gentle handling than 59.00. I say buy it. Use it. Hand it down. But, by all means carry it. Scots were meant to be armed and armed we must remain. That is our culture. That is our heritage. Saorsa gu brath!

Beautiful and Deadly
No rust, oiled and sharp. This blade and sheath are beautifully crafted and are co.posed of quality materials. This product is definitely worth the money for those looking to complete their Scottish Highlander outfit.

STRONG AND SHARP
STRONG, SHARP AND HEAVY. I THINK the Damascus Steel is real, and the pattern is not wearing off. I am a Martial Artist for over 40 years and keep this next to my easy recliner with the other Martial Arts weapons. Prefer this over more leathal weapons. Would classify as a heavy Nordic Knife. Sheath is also good, don't think it could be improved on and I am picky. Would purchase again.

Beautiful Knife (Garbage Sheath)
Really nice piece of work, particularly for the price I paid. The Damascened steel is gorgeous, the pommel on the full tang is fully peened, and there is a lovely simple little strip of brass-coloured metal at the ends of the grip. The handle itself is less sharp at the waist than it appears in the picture, but that's not necessarily a bad thing.Item arrived well-protected, oiled and wrapped, with a plastic protector on the tip to keep it from jabbing its way out of the box or dulling its point in transit. The sheath is an absolute piece of garbage, though that was fully apparent from the picture provided. It's made with thin, cardboard-like processed leather and foam rubber (yes, foam rubber), the overall design of which isn't even appropriate for period costume. But as I say, I wasn't expecting much by way of the sheath and was prepared all along to make my own.A couple of small (VERY small) spots of oxidisation, but I was able to rub those out. That's going to happen with high-carbon and Damascus steel.

One of my favorite knives
Very sturdy, combat ready knife. It came sharp, full tang so no blade wobble. Two downsides, the blade was not sharpened evenly at all so the tip is noticeably lopsided. Also, the sheath is absolute trash. All the same, if I lost or broke it I would probably buy another.

Nice to look at, but That’s all!
I have no idea about the quality the steel with a blade or anything like that, but Almost as soon as I took it out of the package, I noticed the handle was loose. You could twist it a little bit around the blade that’s gotten worse with time and it’s never done anything except sitting in my closet.

Nice looking and sturdy
It is sturdy good looking blade and of the right weight and size. There is no way it has been tempered. The edge is sharp, but not very fine. You can see dips in the edge where the technician was not skilled leaving a dimple. For the price you get what you pay for. I will redo the edge and it will work.

Beautiful, perfect, authentic Scottish Dirk.
I was truly amazed by the quality, authenticity and beauty of this Dirk Blade knife. I've appreciated well-made and attractive knives for about 65 years, but this one surpasses all others. The Damascus Steel blade is in a class of its own. I bought one to wear with my kilt. I'm so impressed with it, I'm now going to buy two more, one for each of my adult sons to wear with their kilts as well. Even the sheath is perfectly made and flawless. It could not fit the knife better nor be better designed. And I am known for having VERY HIGH standards.
