For those having trouble getting the base plate off of the post I had the same issue. I took a pair of needle nose pliers and put them in the holes on the bottom of the post and twisted it off like that. It seemed to give enough leverage to actually get the base plate off. Doing it by hand was impossible.

This fit well at it highest length. Hold my door open.

Magnet is strong enough to hold door with a BUNCH of clothes hanging behind it so our blind dog can get between his bed and his bowls without being blocked by the bedroom door. I hate the shape of the other magnetic door stops out there but love the minimalist design of this one. Wish it came in gold too.

This thing is great. The magnet is strong. Paint holds up well. The adjustments are great and don’t feel wobbly at whatever height you choose. I would definitely buy again no questions asked.

Handy and strong little catch. I'm using on an outside gate (under an eave). The adjustable height of the base was key for me; as was the little bit of springy-give in the little receiver bit. Gave me just the adjustable I need. It catches the gate with just a bit of extra opening push, and holds it steady even with 2 spring-loaded hinges that pull the gate closed. And it comes off the magnet to close the gate with only slight effort. My 7 and 9 year old use it no problem.
