Q: Can I order a new magnet to stick on a new phone?

The magnet is in the holder, not on the phone. All you would need is a new metal disk; however, you should be able to peel the original disk off and stick to the new phone case.

Q: the magnet does not work with my clear plastic Apple case- any suggestions short of having to take the phone out of it's protective case??

Place the metal disk on the outside of your phone case - should work as intended.
