Incredible
This was a book that I bought purely because it was all over Instagram, but I am so glad I did. After it was compared to The Hating Game, one of my all time favourites, I instantly had high expectations and Spanish Love Deception met every single one. This book is about Catalina Martin who moved from a small Spanish town to New York City. When she tells her Mother she will be bringing her American boyfriend home to her sisters wedding, there is only one small problem... She doesn't actually have an American Boyfriend. This is where Aaron Blackford enters. Aaron, despite being Catalina's work enemy offers to be her fake boyfriend for the trip. Realising she has no other choice, she takes him up on the offer. One event after another, it becomes clear hate isn't the only emotion at play here. Will these two enemies be able to convince her family they are happily in love, without actually falling in love?I loved everything about this book. It was so well written, the plot was so good. I loved how Elena revealed small bits and pieces throughout the entire book that made me love Aaron more and more. I can absolutely see why this has blown up on instagram, if you haven't already read this then I would recommend you do! Overall it is a very funny and sweet enemies to lovers, slow burn book. I can't wait to see what Elena Armas comes out with next.

5 amazing Aaron Blackford stars!!!
Oh my, am I glad I finally read this!!!I don't even know what I want to say in this review, only that Aaron Blackford is now my new favourite obsession and I am totally riding the fandom train... This man is EVERYTHING. He is most definitely a fictional character because he is wayyy too good to be true! The things this man said had me swooning, screaming, giggling and burying my face in cuteness overload.I did enjoy the book as well... despite Aaron being the highlight for sure. I liked Lina and how quirky she was. I could relate to her in how awkward she was as we because that's really how I am. I did get second hand embarrassment at times but we move on... 😂Is this book perfection? No. I would have liked more from certain scenes, mostly the wedding could have been longer BUT overall it was exactly what I needed at this point in time, making it perfection for me. I want to reread it already and I LITERALLY just finished it.

Love!!!
I don't know why it took me so long to read this but I'm so glad I finally picked it up and did because I loved it!It reminded me a bit of the love hypothesis which I also loved, I'm really liking the trope of the love interest being in love with the main character already but just biding their time for the right moment to show them and the main character just being completely clueless to the whole thing.Lina was fun and snarky which I enjoyed and I loved watching her slowly fall under Aaron’s spell and see her open up and get a sense of why she was the way she was and what happened to make her leave Spain. She deserved way better and I'm glad she found Aaron!Aaron, I knew I was going to love straight away, tall dark and handsome with the bluest eyes ever? Yes, please!!!! Also, the minute he was described as unfriendly and cold I just knew he was going to have a soft spot for a certain main character which is also a trope I love and I was not disappointed in the least. The plot was fun and enjoyable with a little bit of angst which I saw coming due to Lina’s history but it doesn’t take long for her to rectify so I have no complaints! Overall a sweet contemporary romance, and it's put me in the perfect mood for my upcoming holiday to Spain this summer!

A book of two halves
3.5/5⭐️2.5/5🌶First 200ish pages - 2 starsLast 200ish pages 4.5 starsSo this was a rollercoaster. Normally if I’m really not loving the start of the book I’ll DNF because life is too short to read books we don’t enjoy. But I’ve been told by multiple people that the second half is where the story, the romance and Aaron Blackford truly shine… and they weren’t wrong. This is a classic fake dating story where the FMC needs a date to her sister’s wedding (this one happens to be in Spain) and the only man for the job is her enemy. The main thing that annoyed me here is the book is called the Spanish Love Deception and it takes us 200+ pages to get to Spain. AND that was where all the good stuff was. I felt like Aaron and Lina had no chemistry until they got on the plane and suddenly boom, love was in the air.Honestly I’m glad I persisted and I’m definitely looking forward to Elena’s next book in September. Hopefully there is a little less filter content and we get right into the good stuff in that one 🙏
