I love this dictionary! This dictionary lives in the mysterious shadows and memories of other dictionaries, recalling both ancient and new language. Robin Devoe finds words that tell a story, give you pause, make you think, and surprise you. Clearly, this man loves words. His definitions and lyrical quotes bounce off the page. Who knew you could read a dictionary for pure enjoyment? Smokefall, glisk, cockshut, oofy, you will never find these words together in another dictionary. I especially appreciate the very precise layout of the book. The Supplemental Words of Beauty or Interest could fill another dictionary and I hope it does!

þis is not English. It is a bunch of Greek and Latin compound words. Most of þem have no real use. Do not boðer buying it.

An interesting book which could have been better with help pronouncing these words. Also I question the choice of some of the words and phrases especially place names eg Rampisham Down , a chalk hill in Dorset. The title is Epic English Words but there are numerous foreign words
